Default What search engine is for conservatives??

Advertise Here

OK, I've been using Yahoo for a long time. Lately it seems they are kicking me out of sites/stories that are conservative.
Are there more "like-minded" search engines??
I'm not really a computer guy, so maybe I'm not asking the right thing. I am assuming that Yahoo is a search engine. I use it currently as a home page and an e-mail account.
Thanks. and stay ready....

Have you ever considered using a conservative news group? I think that might give you more of what your looking for as search engines are really designed to take into account the political ideology of the user when determining the relevance of material delivered from searches. Now that said it is will known that some providers censor websites, but it is really hard to know just how extensive the practice is. Anyway, for more information on news groups see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet_newsgroup

I've heard grumblings here and there about Google and other major search engines selectively de-prioritizing items and pages of particular political leanings. I'd have to think that their algorithms are so unbelievably complex and so dependent on the dynamic zeitgeist of other searches and pages' popularity and so on that it'd be difficult to simply turn off the "show conservative stuff" switch that easily; but I think the general takeaway here is that folks are beginning to expect search engine results that are more personalized to their own wishes than those of the search engine itself.

Having said that, here are three sites that might help get you started on the right foot:

http://pledgeamerica.org/search.html

http://www.conservativeusa.org/search.htm

http://www.search-engine.com/

I hope that helps!

There isn't anything political about it. It's a business. If you pay you play.

I've always been happy with Hotbot.com. Been using it for at least 10 years.

I just did a search for Glenn Beck on Google, Bing and AltaVista.com.

All list glennbeck.com first, of course.

Google omits theblaze.com and replaces it with the leftist mediamatters.com.

Bing lists theblaze.com on the first page and lists mediamatters.com on the second page.

AltaVista lists theblaze.com and doesn't list mediamatters. on the first three pages.

There is a handy tool at http://www.thumbshots.com/Products/T...s/Ranking.aspx that lets you compare where major sites rank the same page.

I know this thread is dormant but in case anybody should find it while looking for the answer to this age old question I just wanted to post an update that I just came across. Not exactly what your looking for as this does not address conservative/liberal but it does address privacy which is important to many of us on this site.

http://searchengineland.com/scroogle...arching-112275

Based on this article I am currently trying out StartPage and DuckDuckGo.

I always research something before I jump in to using it, and in an effort to ditch Google as a search engine, I found your threads. Old as they are, I have a feeling after Google's decision to post Caesar Chavez's picture in lieu of anything related to Christ on Easter will likely send like-minded Conservatives searching for search engine alternatives. I'm still searching, but DuckDuckGo was developed by Yandex, a Netherlands-based company that is actually there for tax reasons, but is Russian. And StartPage is "optimized by Google" so you really aren't getting away from Google with them. If anyone has a good answer, I'd be interested.

By the way, I use Manta and Hoovers.com to research companies and see who is behind them as well as whois.com.

The new CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer, came from Google and is Liberal. While that position became her position after this thread was started, I'm posting this so new visitors may have some insight into what's happened at Yahoo. I'd noticed it was headed Left, but swung more dramatically that way and is much more Hollywood-centric now that before. Reagan.com offers email for $40 a year that is not scanned like gmail and yahoo are. It may be we simply have to pay for privacy going forward.

I have been paying for years for third party e-mail so I'm covered from a privacy standpoint. But I'm looking for a better search engine myself. After Yahoo started intrusive ads and then their wallet system saved my credit card when I purchased from a vendor using their storefront system and they let it get stolen and lied to the police about it I won't go near them. Bing is still useless at finding anything and google is now deciding that things are evil and not actions.

I just followed your link to SCROOGLE.COM and got the following message:

I hate even browsing Amazon you get on another website and what you were looking at is posted in an add for the exact same thing. Hate facebook too wanting to charge to even send an email to friends over seas for the other folder. Outlook now for hotmail instead of the original hotmail. I had them close and block my account a while back when someone stole my account and send out porn. I found out that Microsoft has search bots on their site and they search out keywords.

You can use google and have the top 1 million or 10 thousand
links skipped. That gets rid of most sponsored results. Try it.
