Looking at a SKS-M. Got a few questions.

Bolt hold open: I am assuming from the AK mags, this gun does not do it.

Stripper clips: I am assuming it can't be stripper clip fed because of the AK mags.

General quality: Early SKS chinese exports were pretty good, pretty much rearsenaled military rifles. The versions models, are they the pressed in barrels, poorer reciever fit and finish, and in general poorer trigger groups? Not sure if importer makes much of a difference.

Reliability: Are thing things on par with the typical AK's.

I prefer the SKS over the AK. I like regular stocks better than pistol grips. I am very familiar with the firearm, I have plenty of spare parts and ammo for it already. I also love the lyman 66 peep sight, which is available for SKS rifles.

Looks like shorter barrel, no bho, no stripper clips, and a pinned barrel.

The SKS-D is said to be better - comes from China that way, some SKS-M's were modified here.

I would either get an AK or just a standard (long barrel) SKS - gives me a bad feeling with SKS's that aren't in a SKS configuration, I don't even like the chopped 'paratroop' models...

I've picked up 3 SKS's over the past couple months. One Yugoslavian and two Norinco's with all of them being "D's". Stripper clips and the stock mag and the "D" is one reliable rig. Not saying the "M's" aren't reliable I just like the stock Mag and stripper clips..

I what they say "Bubba'd" the Yugo by redoing the stock, adding a buttpad, removed the grenade launcher and launcher site and installed a Tapco Muzzle Brake.

My Yugo but I've since removed the scope..

Alot of Nice Yugos going around now, this one is mint. The rifling is excellent and shows very little use with all matching numbers..
