Default New VZ2008, just ordered it!!

Advertise Here

Well after doing my homework and deciding that the vast majority of VZ2008s reviewed appeared to be very good firearms, I took the plunge, the impetus?? An incredible sale!!

http://www.jgsales.com/product_info....oducts_id/3281

they're on sale for $359 at JGsales.com right now!! That's cheaper than WASRs are going for, I figured, what the hel! I'm probably not going to find a price that low again, so hopefully in a week or so it should get here!!

Well anyway, just thought I'd share my excitement, I'll try to give it a full write-up review as soon as I can, which may not be til after new years.

Congrats. Write us up a range report. The more unique firearms reviews we have, the less cool those crappy ARs and AKs are.

Yes, waiting for your range report! Sounds like a good deal. I love my ak folder, but mine is a yugoslavian underfolder. You can never have too many ak's...

Right...Those crappy rifles that are the symbols of both the free and the oppressed. Right...

On topic, however, I have thought a few times about picking up a VZ2008. I like the Czech design, but I wondered how the CAI's version rated, kind of like the WASR vs. Arsenal debate. FWIW, it's a better gun than the AK by design

Well from what I've read, the vast majority of people who have handled and purchased the VZ2008 have been very satisfied and that its a steal at $500-$600. Well I was planning on getting one at $429 so when I saw it for $359 I just couldn't say no. I recognize that some century builds have a very poor reputation for good reason, but apparently the VZ2008 is one of their builds that gets it right, usually lol

I was considering the czechpoint one, but for the price and with the positive reviews, I figured I'd go out on a limb

I have one like this, but mine still has the original furniture. I just bought it last week, and I can see that a few other of my guns will get left behind when I go to the range now. This will be my new "go to gun" for sure.

Default *Update*

Well, I picked up my vz 58/2008. The fit and finish seems great, my ffl/gunsmith told me everything looks in order and that he was impressed. The gun is light!! Holy crap! I don't think my yugo sks will be more than a fun plinker now as long as the vz shoots well. The parkerization looks ace, the trigger feels crisp, mag changes are quick, the grip angle is very natural. The folding stock is very stiff to fold in, but I suppose thats in the design to prevent an accidental collapse while in use, but it is very quick and easy to fold out. I plan on shooting her tomorrow if the gods will it, as I'm in the middle of finals and I travel this weekend it may not be til after the holidays that I can give a range review.

overall, I'm impressed and excited, considering all told I paid $396, I already feel like I got a steal.

Just finished a final!! I have had a better opportunity to look it over, the bore is pristine, brand new and shiny!! it has no relation to a sewer pipe whatsoever, I'm hoping I get to shoot this tomorrow, I'm way to excited!

Well, I took my last final today, then immediately headed out to the desert.

Shooting: I only shot 30 rds due to time and the fact that I only had 2 boxes of Ulynavosk ammo lying around, but those 30 rounds fed, fired and ejected flawlessly, I was only firing off hand but the rifle did not disappoint!! (it also didn't blow up in my face or anything untoward either!) I'm going on vacation now and will only be able to bring my handgun so no more testing until after new years, but as of right now I am 100% satisfied and have experienced no feelings of buyer's remorse with this product.

*edit
Recoil wise, this gun does kick more than my yugo sks, still very comfortable and easy to control, but being that it is so light and has a shorter barrel, the increase in the recoil is noticeable. To me the fact that it is so light is a huge bonus, I could see hauling this bad boy around with me all day if I had to whereas when I think about doing the same with my yugo I start to get tired just thinking about it lol.

they are excellent! it is more "complicated" than a true AK but still a great design. They are more accurate and refined than an AK but parts are scarce and mags are nearly twice as much...other than that its a fantastic piece!
