Default The Free Online Survival Guide

Advertise Here

So after writing here on the boards for over one year I have completed a number of different articles on various subjects related to survival. This is the first basic structure of the Guide and I will keep working on it, adding more information and new articles. It’s my intention that the Guide will provide a free resource for anyone how interested in the field of survival, crisis preparedness and survivalism.

I would like to thank all members of the Survivalist Boards for their advice and the insights that they have brought to different subject. I have enjoyed writing the articles and hope that some people will find it useful. I’m hoping that we will eventually get a Survival Wiki here on the boards so that we can start writing articles and guides together in a more structured and organized way. With such a tool I really think that we could take the boards to the next level.

The Guide:
Chapter One
1.) Get the ability to cope with a Crisis Situation
2.) Risk Assessments
3.) The Media in a Crisis or Survival Situation
4.) How you can reduce your own vulnerability
5.) Travelling with vehicles during a crisis or survival situation.
6.) Staying warm during a survival or crisis situation
7.) Light during Emergencies and Survival situations

Chapter Two – Water and Food
1.) Water
2.) Food and Starvation

Chapter Three – Bugging Out
Introduction
1.) Bug Out Guide and Checklist
2.) Light Weight Bug Out Bags
3.) Bugging Out as a Group
4.) Bugging Out Using Bikes

Chapter Four
1.) Equipment list for your home – Check List
2.) Pocket Survival Kits
3.) Survival Knives
4.) Equipment and Techniques to start a Fire
5.) Scandinavian Survival Equipment

Chapter Five
1.) Human Conflict, Wars and Survival
2.) Peace Building and State building missions
3.) Private Military Companies, Private Security Companies and Mercenaries

Chapter Six – Weapons of Mass Destruction
1.) Biological weapons
2.) Chemical weapons
3.) Nuclear weapons

Chapter Seven
1.) The Collapse of Civilizations and Societies: Part One
2.) The Collapse of Civilizations and Societies: Part Two

Chapter Eight
1.) Peak Oil

Chapter Nine - Natural Disasters
1.) Earthquakes
2.) Volcanoes
3.) Tsunami

Chapter Ten - For Swedish Survivalists
1.) For Swedish Survivalists

All articles that I have written can also be accessed in the thread “Take it to the next level from the basics”. Thanks for a great site! Hopefully together we will make it even better!

What no chapter on UN Black Helicopters, politics and religion? How did that slip into the disaster preparedness category?

In all seriousness. Well done! Very well structured and practical.

I am thinking of doing something similar for people who work/travel in developing countries. I am usually picking up the (preventable) pieces of some of the less prepared and delivering them to their embassies.

Thanks! I try to keep my articles as focused on survival and crisis preparedness as possible. There are plenty of other sources out there for anyone how is interested in that type of information.

It’s been an interesting time, and I think that the most interesting part is that things are starting to move in a different direction. Many of the scientist that have researched different threats like Peak Oil and the depletion of other natural resources is starting to come together with researchers from other fields. They have also starting doing so a format that is easier accessible than books, the movies “Home”, “Blind Spot” and now last the great documentary from National Geographic “Collapse” are just some examples.

I think that’s an interesting idea, it would also be valid in a crisis or survival situations for people back home in case of serious natural disasters etc.

I think you may have a typo in Chapter 2: section 2 under Malthusian in the first few words:

"Thomas Malthus was a priest and economist living from 1966- 1834"

Edit - not to knock the piece I was just at that section so far very good reading and should be read by more people to get some basic preparation going to see where they stand and can improve.

Thanks for the heads up ccsdc82, it’s easy to get blind when it comes to your own texts. Feedback, criticism and suggestions for new subjects are always welcome. Malthus may have been ahead of he’s own time but being born after he died is a little too much.

Thanks, I really think that the members of the boards could create one of the best survival guides around with a wiki. There is an enormous amount of information here but it can be hard to navigate and find it.

Tell me about it whenever I do long papers proofreading is a must for me or else certain mistakes happen.

Good read here though going to take quite a while to read everything and fully digest it.

Really? You think there is such a thing as zombies? You might want to quit with the horror movies.

Great information! Many folks don't even think of half of what you have put into your list(s). One that I believe should be added is having something for bartering. We are just starting to get our herd of goats which will be raised primarily for milk. I have already seen the bartering system in action around here and expect it to become much more popular as our government fails.

Westfalia, thank you for sharing. This is an impressive compilation of information you have thoughtfully written. I have glanced at the chapters and I see that I have several good chapters to read. Whether it is brand new information for some, or old news to seasoned preppers, having information to refer to in an organized format is beneficial.
