Default The SKS 75 round Drum magazines

Advertise Here

I have decided to buy a 75 round drum magazines to mess around with. I ordered a couple. Does anyone here have one ? These drums are coming from Korea. These drums have a wind up key. They are returnable it they don't work.I did the bolt modification on my rifle and it excepts Tapco magazines. If these work I'm buying a couple more SKS rifles.

How much are the AK 75 round drums in the US?

Right now they are blowing them out for 79 Euro, roughly 108 bucks? Deal?

About the same here for the romanian AK drums last I looked. The chicom AKdrums sell for quite a bit more here.

This is the first I have heard about SKS drums however.

The Korean m14 magazines work, but need to be cleaned and lubed a little. They are just as good as the factory ones. You have to remember my rifles are chinese Polytech m14 rifles.A Springfield m14 might be different. My Polytech rifles came with 2 5 round magazine.

I have a couple 30 round magazines that are complete garbage. I played around with them and got them to feed right. I loaded 25 rounds in them. There is no dependable 30 round magazines out there. I read a few post claiming that the CMI 25 rounders work. I went with the CMI 20 rounders.

I don't know about the new Centerfire versions. But in the old days, right before the ban hit, there were some SKS drums hitting the market. They didn't work worth a damn. I don't know if they were modified chinese AK drums or newly made, but they wouldn't feed. They used to run about $75 back then. The Centerfire drums look to be much better made than the ones I encountered back then. So who knows.

I have a pile of chinese AK drums. They work flawlessly but are heavy and rattle like a snake. They're also really bulky. Might be good for homestead defense, but definately not on foot.

BTW, you can run AK drums in the SKSes that use AK mags. You just need to relieve the stock a little bit on both sides, to clear the drum.

That's freakin sweet!! I didn't know a 75 rnd drum even existed for the SKS. You could melt your barrel right off! At this point though, you might as well go with the belt fed M60

Check out:
www.copesdistributing.net

Got an email from them yesterday that they had Korean drums that will fit unmodified Saiga's.

I believe they have the Korean AK drums as well.

On the Korean drums - if I had to bet, they originated in China and were shipped to Korea.

I have 2 Chinese wind up drums for my AK's. 1st one paid $125 for 2nd paid $75. Both were bought from friends.

Nice having 150rds ready to go under no spring tension.

I hear the Korean 75 rnd drums SUCK. Theyre also making Glock 9mm and MP5 mags... I'd spend the extra $ and get a reliable Romie drum anyday.

That's the reason I like them too. A lot of ammo on hand with no spring issues. Just wind and go.

Drum mags are tweaky unless you have them fitted. The Russians fitted their drum mags to the PPSH-41s, and the later 75 round drums, which were primarily for the SAW, were also individually fitted. However, when fitted, they work like gangbusters. I have never seen one on an SKS, but I have seem plenty of 'em for the AKs.

The ones I have seen fired worked quite well, Chi-Com, Korean or Eastern European. Of course, the East Germans were a bit better than the others....

If you don't know much about working on the SKS and making modifications don't buy this Korean drum magazine.

If your going to order one of these Korean drum magazines it would be a good idea to know how to do various modifications. You might have some issues with the fit and might have to make some adjustment on the drum or the rifle. For 129.99 I'm willing to take the chance. I can make this work no matters what. This is the fun part for me.

I bought the AK version for my AMD 65. $69 plus shipping. Loaded per the instructions, wound it up and it worked fine. A bit heavy but for my rifle a good match. The drum is stamped made in Korea.
