Default How Long Until Economic Collapse

Advertise Here

If you think the global economy is on a path to a full blown crisis. How long do you think until this occurs. I think maybe the end of winter say April/May 2011. What say you.

Based on experience. things seem to happen a little slower than expected. Having said that I expect 2011 the be the year of BIG changes. With so many variables its to hard to pin down a time but it is DEFINITELY coming.

Fullofit, good poll I missed that, personally I think that if the major world players, China, the EU etc. Do not see serious deficit reduction happening in the USA by the end of the 1st Quarter of 2011, the poo will hit the fan.

Well,
it is anyone's guess at this point, yesterday I watched my good friend (not) Alan Greenspan state that a "double dip" was not going to happen...period but then 5min later the same doddering old man with drool slipping from the corner of his mouth stated that he was worried about a bond market collapse which would collapse the economy as a sovereign debt crisis....

The reality is that it could come far faster than anyone expects, but this has been said for more than 10yrs ...and it could be kicked down the road for another decade or two....it all depends on the global market continuing to purchase our crappy bonds....the minute they stop it will be like musical chairs with 20 countries trying to jump into one chair (dumping worthless dollars for gold).

There is also the upcoming deficit cap issue which I am sure will get raised, then the gov will run around trying to refinance our debt (plus another trillion or two) into new higher interest rate bonds....meaning this could get kicked down the road quite a bit further if they can get the refi or sell more bonds or both....

Sooner or later though, these other countries are going to need the liqiudity from these bonds, and the bonds will be devaluing (as the dollar devalues) and they will both stop buying them as well as start selling them...causing the dollar to crash and hence a US economic crash..

From what I looked into, I see an economic collapse around 2020-2030 when the peak oil chart begins to exponentially decrease and gasoline hits $20 a gallon:

And just putting it out there, there is more oil used to produce ethanol than actual ethanol gained. So thats why I see the entire peak oil situation as the most probable SHTF situation.

The old Boy Scout motto of "Be Prepared" is appropriate no matter when it comes.

I expect a gradual decline to continue for a long time with no sudden, discreet collapse except possibly at times in a few limited places.

Big military events might change all that.

With Bush and his tax cuts out and Obama showing a degree of common sense I feel the US will dig itself out of The Bush Wars economic collapse in 6 yrs provided Obama stays the course of letting the rich mans taxes cuts lapse and he gets a second term. Lets all hope Sarah runs.

I don't dig any peak oil, or what have you explanations. Our economic collapse is going to be directly from fiscal policy, and it's going to be 5 years or so, maybe less, before the economy tanks to Zimbabwe standards...

But it's not going to be some overnight shtf. You're not going to wake up tomorrow to $50 gasoline...but prices of everything will rise gradually, and the money in your pocket will be worth less and less...gradually.

We're going around the bowl, but haven't quite flushed...

I don't think knowing when is as important as knowing that it has started.
