Dear All,

There are a lot of duct tape brands available, but which brand is the best?

Many thanks for your answers!

Best regards,

Gorilla tape is by far the strongest commercial brand I have tried. Doesn't mean "best" though. Comes in various Mil thicknesses also.

Extra points for knowing how to spell duct tape. Grates my teeth to hear duck tape used.

Happen to have some really good stuff laying around. Looks like the manufacturer is Intertape Polymer Group.

I've also had good results with gorilla, even on exterior applications.

Gorilla is pretty dang strong... At my old house, my roommates and I put down strips of it on the carpet to denote where people should stand when we play beerpong. 3 years later we still couldn't tear the stuff off of the carpet. The carpet all had to be replaced anyways (no carpet can last 3 years with 4 college kids living there), but we were all really impressed with the tape. We also used it for a bunch of other stuff and it never failed us.

There is a company that makes duck brand tape http://www.duckbrand.com/Duck%20Tape%20Club.aspx

I have used it, not nearly as good as the Gorilla brand duct tape though.

Gorilla is strong, but down here in the heat and humidity we have had problems with the sticky part separating from the backing ,creating a real sticky mess.

All I have ever seen is either the 3M stuff, or cheap dollar store crap. My vote is for the stuff MYthbusters used to make a bridge.

I don't know if anyone cares but I've had good luck with gorilla tape as well. You can also use duct tape to clear up a wart. Just put duct tape on the wart and it goes away in a few days or so. Anyone else tried this?

I used to would have said 100 mile an hour tape, the duct tape issued by the military, but since Gorilla tape came out, I have to go with that. Its awesome.
Gorilla wood glue is really good too.

Arrow NOT!

What NOT to use - 3M.

3M used to be the best but not anymore. Last 3M I got the sticky was terrible. Oozes out the sides and does NOT hold worth a .

Had some Nashua brand I got from a supply house somewhere, somewhen, and it was pretty good. I don't know about the newer stuff. Probably like 3M or bought out by 3M.

Been using Duck brand and it's OK.

From what I hear, here, I might give Gorilla a try.

We consumers have to settle for what they have in the stores. Cheap sells, not quality.

Gorilla tape.

I had set up a tarp as a lean to in my back yard and reinforced the grommets with gorilla tape. 9 months later I took it down and the tape was still exactly as I had put it despite months of cold, snow, rain, wind, and heat. I had a some duct tape (the cheap commercial silver type) on my swamp cooler cover through just 3 months and it had all but disintegrated.
