Does anyone carry a .308 or 5.56? Why? Which go to rifle?

I HAVE FOUND IT!!!! THE PERFECT RIFLE!!!!




This rifle is chambered in a specially designed .308 round, BUT it weighs no more than the 5.56x45mm round. It has been extensively field tested in the desert, jungle, artic, urban, swamp, and even in space by specially trained astronats. In field tests, they have filled it with mud, sand, grass, and even water then fired 1000 rds out of it without a hitch. It has an integral quad rail system with optics that don't need batteries. It can mount any item you want on it and barely effect the firing rate. It can shoot over 1000 yds accurately and the sights never need adjusting.


IT'S CALLED A CATAPULT, But AR and AK fans say it sucks.

I use an Olympic Arms 5.56 in the M4 configuration. I enjoy it. I haven't put it through any "dirty firing" scenarios. However, I have enough ammo stockpiled to take down enough attackers to pick up weapons/ammo from them.

Id go with an ak or a 308. The 223 is a great round but its in the varmint class. A 7.62x39 or a 308 can drop a deer so it would have no problem during shtf.

Optics can be easily mounted to an ak47! I have 4x compact scopes on all my ak's.

Stay away from any optic that uses batteries.....batteries go dead. A shtf optic must work on its own power.

I beg to differ on that 100%! The 5.56x45 round drops deer and hogs like a bad habit...'been dropping them consistantly with that round almost 30 years. I carry that caliber because I can carry more ammo....lighter.

I also carry an ample amount of spare batteries too in my BOB.

At any given range from 0 to 1000 the 308 has more stopping power than the 223.
And the 308 does not have to keyhole to be effective like the 223.

But hey to each his own, you carry batteries and a varmit rifle, I carry a 308 and no batteries.

If the 5.56 is dropping deer and hogs for him, what could the .308 have done better? It would have weighed twice as much to do the same job.

The 5.56 can be quite effective when paired with a proper expanding hunting bullet rather than a FMJ or a fragmenting varmint (yes there's an N in varmint) bullet.

I prefer the .308 also, but I give the 5.56 credit where credit is due. Still, I don't shoot FMJ in either when it comes to life or death situations.

I carry a .308 and a .223 with me all the time. I also have two spare AK's, one is a 47 and the other is a 74. Never know how many bears I might run into while trekking through the jungles of Florida. With my tactical MOLLE webbing I can carry about a million rounds of ammo comfortably. I think with the four guns and all the ammo I should be good for any bear I might encounter. If it were post SHTF I would probably carry three million rounds of ammo.

Tell ya what....stand out 100-300 yards, get tagged by the 5.56x45, and tell me if it hurts there Superman!

CQB is well short of 1000 yards. Good for you and your .308/no batteries.... DILIGAF?! In an SHTF scenario I'm not gonna be making 1000 yard shots in the first place!

My SOP in that scenario against a prospective unknown potential adversary is to AVOID! My message conveyed... "I'll let you live if you let me live." But sounds like to me that you have something to prove! I don't!

You don't have a clue about my surroundings anyway and you damn sure as hell don't know s**t about me either ok? If I wanna reach out, my 30-06 will out range that .308 any day of the year! And I have more than that if I really need to reach out further ok? So go jack off!
