Anyone own these? How is the stopping power of the 410 shell at 5-10 yards?

my dad has one. because of the rifled barrel, they are useless at over 12 feet with .410. the patter gets very wide very quick. it's a great snake gun, and close range would put the hurt on someone. The .45 colt has enough power to take out something big. my dad bought one as his ranch gun. when he's out, he keeps it on him. it's perfect for short range snake shots, and has the accuracy and punch to stop a hog if need be.

I have no experience shooting 410 shells out of a Judge. I do have a Lienad 410.45 long colt derringer that when I shot a pine board with a 410 shell that shot bounced off the board. Consider that the 410 shell is designed to be shot out of at least an 18 inch barrel. So the design is for a longer burn time of the powder the keep the pressures lower. 4 inch barrels are 14 inches to short for a good powder burn. Hand loading can make some improvement and forming up some brass shells from 444 marlin is my suggestion. Check into some loadings of IMR 2400.
