Thumbs up The ULTIMATE Bug Out Portable Shelter

Has anybody seen or used one of these? They are water proof, dust proof, portable camping trailers built for off road use. There are extra 30 gal tanks for both fuel and water. And they turn in to a McMansion!

Looks like these guys are out of Austrailia. Has anybody seen something like this for sale in the US?

i was thinking if you could add a small wood burning stove set up with a small half wall plywood set up they would not be a bad little unit for winter time camping use ..

I've spent a week in a combination of this http://www.adventuretrailers.com/horizon.html

and this http://www.arbusa.com/Products/Touri...-Tents/43.aspx

it was so awesome. I'm getting one as soon as I get into a more permanent home.

For twenty grand I could build a epic BOV with trailer combo, AND a new rifle....that's nuts.

Although the off-road capability of an Adventure-type trailer is unparralelled, you could build one for much cheaper. Not to mention you can get a used pop-up camper in really really good shape these days for 1500 bucks.

Google off road trailers/ pop up tents etc, some people buy old military trailers for a couple hundred dollars and convert them to high quality lifted off road trailers with a bbq, generator, tent, etc.

WANT!!! but honestly, with a few weekends, some old tents and beer you could probably make one of these for a few grand. and StpeteTJ , this would actually make a good set up while building/finding your permant home.

Keep in mind that in Australia everything is 2x+ what we pay in America.

That is probably an $8k item here.

8k and you can't heat it with a wood burning stove.

I have a 24 foot pull behind that cost me about $1,000 off Craigs list. It has 1 full sized bed, and 5 cots. It has a fully working bath room, shower, and kitchen with real masonry. 3 rooms, and an Air Conditioner that will freeze you.

Guys you don't have to buy everything new. Tents are temporary shelters till you build your cabin. Not permanent shelters to replace the cabin. How do you heat it long term?

This idea is for dry airid climates where you don't get any snow, much water, and bugs are your biggest concern.

Its not a McMansion, its a McFail. Sorry bro, please don't taze me.

when you go to the site and you click on discussion, you are given a picture of a guy shoveling bull****.

That should be the first warning.

Yep, even saw one on the telly awhile back.
Read about some others in one of my camping mags.
They even make some that pull behind motorcycles.

I like it. I like it a lot. And a rig like that pulled behind a good pickup is much more mobile and flexible than an RV. Not to mention the savings in fuel, maintenance, taxes, etc. And resale has to be better as well.

Does not look very long-term durable. Looks neat for weekend campers, but to me it just looks like a big expensive piece of ****. <---censored in america!! Oh sorry, the proper word is FECES.
