Default California - The Rise of the ONE PARTY STATE

Advertise Here

In the old Soviet Union and many other Communist countries, elections for political office were regularly held. The difference was that voters could only vote for the one person on the ballot, who was 100% assured of victory in the "election".

As with most things, the "Devil is in the Details". Free and Fair Elections mean different things to different people.

California is now a one-party state.

Democrats will now hold all state offices, U.S. Senate seats and the majority of House seats. Thanks to state Proposition 14, passed in 2010, California will never be anything but a “Banana Daiquiri Republic”.

Democratic party registration has remained relatively flat at 43% of voters. Republicans have just 27% (continuing to shrink) of registered voters and those with no declared party preference are now 24% (growing) percent of registered voters. The balance of 6% going to the other minor parties. Therefore non-Democratic voters make up the majority of voters at 57%.

Proposition 14 was a California ballot proposition that passed in 2010. It is a state constitutional amendment that effectively transformed California's non-Presidential elections into a “Two-Round System”.

Instead of allowing each political party to hold a primary election open to just its members to determine its candidate for the general election, Proposition 14 proposed to create a single primary ballot that would be identical for all voters. All candidates running in the primary election, regardless of their political party preference, would appear on that ballot. The two candidates with the most votes would then qualify for the general election, regardless of party.

In the recent U.S. Senate election to replace retiring Senator Barbara Boxer, 34 candidates competed in the first round elections. The top two vote getters were Democrat Loretta Sanchez and Democrat Kamala Harris. Republicans were not allowed on the general election ballot. No third party candidate was allowed to appear on the general election ballot.

The result of this “reform” is to hand 100% of all statewide offices over to one party, the Democrats, forever. Although all political parties were against the passage of Proposition 14, I doubt the Democrats will attempt to repeal this amendment any time soon.

I fully expect similar action to take place in other Democratic strongholds, as a way to protect and consolidate their power.

I moved to California in 1983, retired in 2014, sold out and moved last year.

Thanks for highlighting the socialist swamp that California has become. I do not expect it to get any better since the legislature, state democratic party, and the state and district Judges has been actively working to cause this the entire 32 yrs I lived there.

The only rationa response for persons living there is to leave. Punch out, Sell out, and Bug out.

It's not a coincidence that politically and geographically California is the farthest left you can go.

Here you have a state that uses ballot initiatives to bypass legislation so what would the normal outcome be? Now all you have to do is factor in voter fraud.

California is a lost cause and it'll spread to the other states.

Washington State is not far behind, I am sad to report.

Christine Gregoire recounted till She won, after "finding" ballots in the trunk of a car on Third Vote Count.

I have empathy for the good people there but it will, no doubt, implode at some point.

Not for long if they continue. Sooner or later all the "other peoples money" will dry up and they'll find they're bankrupt.

Massachusetts is , and has been for awhile , a 1 party state .

Ever heard of senator E. Warren ? Only in MA. or maybe Calif. and N.Y. could a lying socialist piece of garbage like her get elected .

Part of the reason it is a 1 party state and will be for the for seeable future . The democrats rigged the voting districts so it is nearly impossible for a republican to win .

I actually prefer this primary system with one minor but vital change: The top 4 candidates should be on the ballot.

China is the largest now, right? Or second? Watch how nasty that becomes when they crash.

The bigger they are, they harder they fall.

My Mayor my CCW Issuing Sheriff (Got Mine) my State Assembly Member ,my State Senator and my US Congresscritter (Doug LaMalfa R) ARE ALL Constitutional supporting conservatives , My County (Shasta) is 89% White and 72% GOP, THERE IS PUSH BACK in Sacramento but if Socially Liberal folks keep voting the way they do the Super Majority here will grow and it will be a model for the Blue Super states and how Democrat Control can expand without Washington involvement.

I don't like Maine's ballot initiatives because all they do is spend and increase taxes, but an interesting one that passed is the rank-choice voting which Im interested to see what happens with that now that the Libertarian Party is officially going to be on the ballot in future elections. Prior to recently Maine was known to be a pretty Independent state, now it's fairly Democratic at least nationally. State wide it's kind of mixed.

But rank choice voting has you vote for your candidates by choice in order of preference. You can vote for as many or little as you want. If a single candidate doesn't get 50% of the vote, they remove the candidate with the fewest votes. Voters who chose that candidate as a first vote then have their second vote tallied until a candidate has over 50% of the popular vote. Im interested to see how it might allow the newly established Libertarian party a better chance, or more Independants.

Look on the bright side, sooner or later the liberal progressive model will fail and they will completely ruin CA. Then the pieces can be picked up and it will be rebuilt again. And you'll be able to buy property cheap.

We are seeing the same thing on the national level. It does not matter what party you vote for they are still hosing you. Just recently the house passed a bill attacking fake news sites. You know the entire dissent is treason thing. Nothing more to see comrade. Carry on, carry on.

Just google "Ca. exodus" and read some of the articles. People are leaving this state at a rate of 3 to 1 ratio, the newest article I found was June 2016. Now with the Draconian laws Unconstitutional meltdowns and election, I'm curious what those numbers will be in say another 6-8 months? As a retired Veteran of this state, I for one have had it, they've treated this Vet like dung. If I didn't have family, I'd be homeless no. Got no help from anyone to start a small business. I can't afford to live here there laws have made me a felon! I'm gone in 2 months. Good riddance! This :035 second video says it all! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6Dj8tdSC1A

There must be something in the water that affects CA residents or the food they eat or perhaps some kind of environmental catastrophe. Most of the liberal people there are truly "whacked". Whatever is ailing them, the condition persists when they leave. I know people living in MT and CO and they say that the transplants that migrate from CA are just as wacky as when they lived in CA. They hold the same liberal beliefs, vote for the same *******s and their warped policies and they do their best to transform their new host community to be the same as the one they fled. You can't fix stupid. Now I am pretty sure you can't fix liberal either!

Kalifornistan has been OFFICIALLY BANKRUPT for over 4 years now! The ONLY reason they are still remotely solvent is because of OUR (tax! MONEY! They have been propped up by the FedGov with grants, entitlements, social programs and environmental projects for years. And THAT money is OURS! And the latest FedGov cash cow is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION! This has spawned ever more social programs that bring in entitlement dollars not only to pay NON-workers but to pay new government employees to administer to these new programs!

And the over-regulation of EVERYTHING is astounding! Yet these people who live there seem to think that their Socialist Workers' Paradise is the FREEest thing there is! Strange!

As another poster said, it WILL eventually implode! Hopefully soon!

And as for their "CALEXIT" thing .... for the good of the rest of us, it couldn't happen sooner! This is ONE thing that I WOULD support!
