The State of North Baja will not fold quietly.
Consider moving further north to the new 50th state of Jefferson.
North Baja would need to be overrun and repacified by Americans to exist in this republic.
Ooh, maybe it could become a US possession.

Honestly though. I have no answer. California has such a huge impact on the rest of the country. Whether we're talking population, economics, manufacturing, farming, etc.
The implication of trying to bring it back into the fold is enormous.
Worlds 7th largest economy.
That says it I think.

I am secretly hoping California will attempt to secede. Then Trump will have an excuse to utilize the US Military and storm this shat hole and bring it back into United States, after he deals with the traitors with a throwback to 1776.

I'm not holding my breathe.

There's a mass exodus getting ready to happen over the bull**** gun laws.

California is an awesome place to live, if it weren't for the politics.

Mexifornia is done. Put a fork in it. I have relatives who live there (LA) and they are so mind ****ed that they will never get over Trump let alone embrace ANY conservative values/ideas. I don't even view CA as a state any more... it is a planet full of aliens... legal and illegal ones who no longer resemble average, working Americans! It is such a shame that liberalism turned a beautiful, once productive, and important state into a waste land. I hope the 33% or so who voted for Trump can somehow segregate themselves from the martians and save their planet!

My County in the. Central Valley of California just approved teachers to carry guns in the classroom. The citizens are not the problem, the politicians and their illegal friends that vote are.

California's problem is democracy. Voters have realized that through the state initiative system they can directly control state government; and they're doing a lousy job of it, constantly ordering elected officials to cut taxes and increase spending on benefits for them. This does not work. The social side of California is less important than the business and political side, and that's what the voters are messing with. And, as they sink their state, the people are abandoning it and moving to other states where they do the same thing. This is not good...

California is very Liberal!

Liberalism and it's complete failure can only be realized when it's fully applied. California like Detroit, Baltimore, parts of Chicago, Washington DC and other places have fully applied the theories of liberalism and are living in the predictable hell hole they call home.

California will change when the people realize they've bought into the false and broken promise of liberal ideas.

Just like the alcoholic, they sometimes have to hit bottom before change can occur.

How big of an earth quake will it take to get California to finally start floating away from us? I think some of the nuclear fallout from Japan infected it permanently.

I think it all hinges on the immigration issue as that is what has been the real downfall of CA. If Trump can get a handle on the illegals and send them back to where they came a large piece of the Dems stranglehold will be gone paving the way for some leadership other than theirs or the token RINO's in CA.

Sent from a Galaxy S5 far far away.

For those that disparage California, Washington and Oregon aren't much different, they have illegals there too. Washington is on the verge of draconian gun laws, regulate the hell out of small business for govt profit, squeeze ever bit of revenue from the producers.

What else do they have in common?

All three states voted for Hilary. How many other states are just as bad or worse. NY, NJ, NH,, there are more.

Fortunately, America has been given a stay of execution, it's up to everyone to fight the socialist agenda. You can run, you can hide, federal law applies to everyone.

I grew up in Washington state, anyone that lives there has seen my metal work, trust me, I know Seattle very well. The biggest difference is the weather, politics are pretty much the same. The liberàls are rabid and he'll bent on enforcing their will on you. California leads the pack with restrictive gun laws but the other two are not far behind and you can bet your ass, they will do everything they can to be like California.

I'm at a point where I would write politicians to support California leaving the country.

The "CalExit" people believe they can leave, wait out Trump, then let the U.S. come crawling back to them with a deal to eliminate the electoral college and make some other changes to reduce federalism.

But I think what would happen is that California would tank, and they'd come crawling back ready to take whatever deal they could get ... and in that scenario, my hope would be that we say no thanks.

I don't want war with anyone, not even trade wars. I just don't want their liberal idiocy to drag down the rest of the country.

Liberalism IS a mental disorder.

This article describes my relatives who live in LA and others I know around the country. THIS is why we are failing as a once great nation.

Secession was a crappy idea 150 years ago and it still is. If you don't like where you live - move. No need to balkanize the country because you can't live in peace.

The only people that can stop california from its decline are the citizens of california.
And I would happily trim the liberal strong holds out of the U.S.A. let them sink all on their own.

Slavery was a crappy idea. Secession is not necessarily a crappy idea.

In 1801, France had about 28 million people, England had about 10 million and the United States had about 5 million. The reason the federal government exists is because the states were too small individually to protect themselves militarily and had small economic markets.

At this point, the United States is huge in every way, so the risk becomes greater that we have wasteful spending and out of touch central bureaucrats.

I suspect that if the founding fathers time-traveled to today, after spending a few weeks reading up and talking to some key people, many of them would suggest splitting the U.S. up into several region-based countries that could be more responsive to their people. But, I can't prove it ... not suggesting it.

In California's case specifically, they clearly want Venezuela-style socialism, and they can't have it while part of the U.S., so I think they should have the option to separate and learn yet again what happens every time countries try it. But who knows, maybe they have all the answers and they'll invent a socialist paradise and we'll all be knocking on their door begging to be allowed in.
