Looking to meetup with others in the Sacramento area. I believe that in order to survive and thrive you need to be in a community. I don't want to go it alone. Anybody?

My family and I are looking to move to the Sacramento area. Does anyone have any opinions on the Elk Grove or Folsom area?

Some good neighborhoods and great schools. Do your homework, hope you can spend some money, Folsom can be pricey.

One of the best things about Sacramento is that it is about an hour drive to many survivalist type of cities. Especially all areas from north east to south east of Sac

Very nice, I used to live up in the Dobbins area. So I'm prepping for everything, as best as I can for a single girl. What about you?

I prep for a little bit of everything too. I love the foothills and am about to buy some land in the Browns valley area. Also probably gonna move out of California this coming summer.

Well, not really sure I would classify it as "prepping". We enjoy dry camping, away from all of the city folks. We enjoy getting back to basics such as teaching our kids how to live without electricity and batteries for thier games. We find the old ways to be much more satisfying than a lot of the modern "convienent" ways.

Folsom...I'm in Placerville,go to Folsom all the time, both places are expensive for housing,if you don't have to commute consider Electric Dorado county, we have a great sheriff and are a lot more pro 2A than anything in Sac County

Not true, Sac County issues way more CCW's then ED County.

One great aspect of Sacramento is it's proximity to so much, and for this community, mountains. From Sac, if you go East for 25 minutes, you have hills, and another 40 minutes you're in the mountains. Great for escaping. But, you can also be an avid Sacramento venturer living in the mountains and using Sacramento as your place to stock up or have fun. There are a ton of cities East of Sac that are actually relatively big cities that have all you ever need.

North of Sacramento in Sutter is also a mountainous area where you could isolate yourself while also having a nice sized town to protect eachother.
