What are some of the better outdoor shooting areas in the Kalispell area?

I have a friend who is a member at a local gun club but I would like to get outside as well.

Thank you!

This is an Outdoor Range. You have to be a member. It's nice for bench shooting out to 300 yds. I've been there a couple of times with someone that is a member.

Personally, I shoot at a gravel pit on State Land out towards Tally Lake. I go with a friend and we are usually the only ones there (Mon-Fri). You bring your own Targets & Stands. 250 yds is about the longest you can get. I'm usually 100 yds or less anyway. I like it because I can practice a lot of things I couldn't do on an organized range.

There's plenty of places I've shot on State Land. As long as you practice the basic firearm safety rules, you can find plenty of free places to shoot outdoors. I've driven a Van to most of these places, so you don't need a hardcore off-road vehicle.

There is a 'range' of sorts on the road up to Jewel Basin. It's on state land, about a mile or so back off of Foothill Road on the left-hand side. There is a rather large parking area across the road from it that was set up for the trailhead that is located there. If you start up a very windy sharp rise up the mountain, you passed it.

Go out on the National Forest and shoot into a hill.
