I donated some clothes that are now to big. I don't keep a whole lot of stuff here in the travel trailer and honestly, if something comes in, something must leave. LOL

Oh! I also gave away a purse and a big stuffed, animated pig. Both were Christmas presents and well, the purse is just ugly as sin. Sometimes I do really wonder about my children's taste. The pig I just don't have room for and if I turn it on it scares my little dog. LOL

Over the past couple days, I have listed 93 things to sell on eBay! WOOOOOT! Now here's hoping that they sell. I have more to list, but I'm waiting to talk to eBay about increasing selling limits, so we'll see how that goes. I'm gonna get rid of this stuff, dammit!

I decided this morning to give all the what-nots to everybody on my "when I kick the bucket" list. Why wait until I'm dead? Why keep all this stuff around taking up precious space? You know what I mean--the (fill in the blank) that was given to me by my (fillintheblank such as great great grandmother) that should now be handed down to my grandchildren--stuff like that. I'm writing a note saying that I want them to have (enter item here) now and not have to wait until I'm dead to receive it. Then tell them a little about the item and why I wanted them to have it. I'll make sure it isn't written morbidly, just something sweet and nice for them to have. Then I'm taking all these packages to the post office.

Peaches, I think that's a wonderful idea. If the items are things you're not using or enjoying, why not pass them on now? At least this way, you ought to get a Thank You out of the deal. LOL.

I believe in giving gifts to people when they are alive so they can enjoy them and not have to wait until after you die to enjoy them.

I gave some expensive gifts to my older brother, older sister and to some extremely close friends. I did that when I lived back east before I moved out west. (After my late husband died.)

I gave some more gifts to people after I moved out west too.

I never regretted doing that either.

My late husband and I did that when he was alive too.

My MT husband and I do that now.

I was never into 'do dads' and stuff like that but my sister was/is and so are some other people that I know. To each their own. Personally, I think that STUFF can TAKE OVER your life and clean living space.

Sometimes people do not own stuff but THEIR STUFF OWNS THEM!

Catherine

I put 2 computer printers on Freecycle, and both are spoken for already...and neither one even had the cords with them.

This past week I got rid of 4 old style tvs to the recycling depot. We have not had cable for tv for about 6 years so I am not sure why we still kept 2 TV's of the 6 , I guess for video games or playing dvd's. It's a start.

Another reason we keep everything is as someone said if shtf and no mre trade you're like crap I wish I still had that. Even if you have no use for it you could trade it for something you want. Also I see some of you sold guns. With the new law will be tougher to get stuff. Again trade comes to mind. Just my 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure that no one will trade 4 old style TV's if TSHTF.

I haven't got rid of a single thing this week. I did clean the fridge and the laundry room. So, I got rid of some dust bunnies.

When i was very poor I used to hoard. i even would buy food and not eat it so that I still had it. I was unaware of myself doing this. I only realised I had done it when i no longer did it.

If my child did not eat his apple in his lunch it went back in the lunchbox. Even if it was horrible looking. Not rotten, but you know, banged about. If it was there I had done my job. i counted the fruit when I bought it, I was so close to the bone.

I remember I would buy one lettuce and it would sit in the fridge till it went off, I was too scared to use it because when it was gone it was gone.

This is when I started gardening.

but anyway: on with the story! hoarding is a poverty thing as much as anything. I hoarded clothes, I hoarded everything. I never knew what I would need, and I did know I would not be able to buy it.

Now that I have money I can travel much lighter. Not a lot of money, but enough to not worry about next weeks' supermarket shopping. I am not as burdened and I can throw away old clothes without fear, bottles, jars, books. They all go.

I am also trying to stay light on my feet.

My husband wants to donate some of his older shirts and a pair of jeans to our local charity. I am waiting for the jeans to dry since I did a bunch of laundry.

I have a spare grooming set that I made up for a Veteran or anyone else can use - male or female. Soap, shampoo, unscented hand cream, comb, toothpaste and toothbrush.

Remember that used shoes, boots and sneakers are appreciated and they do USE them for the homeless or whoever. Clean socks - used or new are nice too. If I donate used or NEW socks or clothing... I always wash it for them too. I always wash any item first (Brand new item.) before we wear it and I do it for them too.

Those polar fleece LAP blankets are nice too. They use blankets, sheets, pillow cases and sleeping bags so if you are going through your closet or stuff... keep that in mind.
