The only things holding me back:
1) the WASR will only go up in price if the AWB goes into place, though I wont be able to "legally" transfer it once grandfathered
2) I already own a 1911, its a Remington (my favorite gun, though so it only holds me back a little).

If you were in my shoes would you do a trade like this?
Why in Gods name would you want vilinize your rifle.
We are in a war were words matter. Chose a side!

Nope, I'm holding onto my AK. Just hope a squad of trained soldiers doesn't show up and raid my house like they did after Katrina. The fact that you are reading this post puts you on the short list for that kind of thing...

What is your assault rifle worth to YOU?

I don't have one, but I do have a semi-auto AR. It is worth my life and that of my family. Priceless.

I turned down an offer of $1200, a milled AK, and 700 rounds of 7.62 for my del-ton AR. I have another AR I just it in a trade for a gunsite scout... But my delton is my baby. I'll die with it unless someone offers to pay off the next 29 years of my mortgage!

Wow that is quite an offer you turned down

I am sorry that I offended so many of you with my "assault rifle" comment but I just used it because it is a buzz word.

If we're going to be correct about terminology, an AR or AK is also not a MBR. That definition only applies to rifles that shoot a full power rifle cartridge, rather than an intermediate round such as the 5.56 or 7.62x39.

What is my rifle worth to me........

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will... My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit... My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will... Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!

Semper fi

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

This is BS. You must not have ever fired a full auto except in basic if you even served. I have. There is a difference. If there was no difference the mil would have had semi only rifles. They don't. And full auto is not about accuracy it is about putting rounds down range to suppress. Former US Army COMBAT ARMS.
Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone has one.

Never even shot it. Panic bought it to trade! It felt really nice though, aimed well. Just a little heavy for what it was. the bolt was utter crap though! Didn't like the price of magazines and ammo. I wouldn't have traded it if it weren't for the current firearmageddon.

Hmmm.. I haven't found anyone at the range with one yet. I'd like to shoot it before I buy it but I might end up with another Rem 700 of some sort. Seems like a nice rifle though.

My rifles are worth what they are selling for, but that doesnt mean Im selling them... In fact Ive found now is a great time (for lack of a better word) to be picking up the rifles that commanded a high premium before the panic but have not appreciated as much as the modern "tacticool" rifle..

Picked up a mid nineties target match hbar, with a 1000 rnd case of ammo for 1300$

Sold it for $950, that is exactly twice what I paid for it.

Hoping the AWB threat blows over so I can feel a lot better about the sale lol

WASRs are retail here $999. In November $599. In 2011 $499. You cant buy stock on the NYSE that appreciates like that. I stopped in a big box sporting goods store tonight and saw the racks full of the guns of the future - long barrel shot guns, small caliber bolt guns, and .22LR in all shapes. These are the PC guns that hunters and sportsmen "need" and for family plinking fun. If the Administration is successful that WASR may soon be worth $3K.
