What do you guys think of drums ? I have 7 metal mags, but no experience with drums that hold close to 100 rounds. Worth it ? Do you guys own them ?

Also, if I could tack on another question, can I buy HEI rounds as an average civilian ?
I have 2 Chinese 75rd wind up AK drums loaded (with no spring tension) sitting in my closet.

They get used and then dropped. Not going to be running around with them rattling all over the place. Good from fortified static positions or vehicles or when the MS-13 motorcycle gang shows up at the house.

They work just fine.

I don't have drums. They are expensive per round, cumbersome, heavy, more complex than mags, and not as reliable.

Say you have $100. You can buy 1 drum that holds 100 rounds. Or, you could buy 10 magazines which will hold 300 rounds...

Magazines are easier to carry, and fast to reload. Drums will also encourage you to fire faster and burn out your barrel. 100 rounds without pause heats up a barrel a lot.
Got ya, thanks. What about HEI rounds, can civilians buy them ?

I keep a handful of 20 & 30 round P-mags, and one 50 round X-15 drum mag loaded.

if i could afford 100 magazines i would keep 100 of them loaded, but i do not have that many, one of the benefits to a stripper fed rifle like the SKS is you could have 5000 rounds and have them all loaded on strippers and ready to go

Wow I did not realize SKS was stripper fed. I always wanted to pick one up, not sure I'd be any more in a position to carry myself around with 5,000 rounds attached.

You don't bring them all with you. Leave them at base so you can re-supply. YOu can arm a group of friends too

Where does one buy long stipper clips and what size is suggested to be used at a time ? 100 round ?

I still am also wondering if I can buy HEI rounds ...

Stripper clips are 10 rounds.
Do a Google search for the ammo. It will turn up but at $3.50+ per round they can keep it.

Can they connect together ? I'm just wondering how to have a 100 or so round band to run through the SKS.
