I got a random phone call today from my brother stating that someone he works with said they saw a flyer mentioning that if a person owns a semi-automatic weapon that they are limited to owning 1000rds and 90 days of food. And someone is trying to change this to 500rds and 30 days of food. Sounds odd to me and i cannot find this anywhere.
A lot of hearsay I know, but there are some smart people here and I know if this is true someone will know.
Youre right to think its odd, because its completely untrue. There would be tens of thousands of people in trouble if it were true.
Even if i werent gathering food storage im sure i would have at any given time what someone could theoretically live on for 90 days.
If there were ammo limitations we would all know about them. They would be signs posted everywhere you buy ammo since restrictions pertaining to firearms and ammo are taken very seriously by the government.
It kind of scared me because of a thread I saw on here the other day with a NY Times article from the depression time frame discussed a man that was arrested for having a years worth of food and supplies for his family. I guess back then there were laws about having more than a few months worth of food. I did not know of any currently but I never claimed to know all of the laws.
***UPDATE***
I did find a link to a group that is proposing legislation to limit the # of rounds you can store without a permit from the fire department. It is like 10,000 rds though.
Dianne Feinslime proposed similar legislation some time ago.
Fell flat on it's face but that's no guarantee now.
She called it an arsenal law.
So many guns over a certain number had to have a permit.
Ammo had to be under a certain count.
It all had to be stored in vaults and explosive magazines.
The usual suspects stood up and cheered but it failed anyway.

There is a law batf about "creating an arsenal" but actually what is legal is what you don't get caught doing. In other words, keep your mouth shut about what you have. Don't brag or do anything that will possibly put you on the wrong side of the goobermint. Store whatever, quietly . Also, if you have neighbors that are not storing food and whatever, and they know you do, guess where they will go when they get hungry ?
I buy 10,000-20,000rnds at a go no one at the stores asked for permits and none of my friends at the sherrifs office or the sherif have been you should get a permit and i talk to our sherrif periodicly at dinner when he comes to the lodge bout every other month so im of the oppinion that its someone who is either pulling your chain or just mis informed
As far as the food it is unknown to me.
Was told, have not confirm it yet, could be true or not true. A person in Oregon was bragging that he owns over 200 firearms and 50,000 rounds of ammo. An undercover police officer befriended him, viewed his stash, arrested him. Anything over 1,000 rounds of ammo will get you arrest in this city of Oregon.
My suggestion to keep below the radar is to keep your amount of ammo under 1,000 while typing on this form. Your opinion?

I cant verify as fact as it was on the telly some time ago. But they showed on a family that was stocking/storing survival food and had a lot, lot! They fined/confiscated much of it or something like that as it was claimed that they was considered merchanting or something like that and or hoarding?? It was actually nicely stored and not in the open. I was shocked!! I have heard of other similar reports of this happening. I wouldnt doubt it becomes more strict with time, they dont want anyone prepared/ready. Hopefully some can come up with ligit reports on this. Has something also to do with hoarding laws.
Over heard this at the Gun Show in Boise, Idaho last Spring. I give it 50% creditability. The other 50% could be a lie. So if anyone else heard something about this please write it here so we all can be on the safe side.
Like I keep telling you guys, you talk too much! And stop having friends; they're like holes in your armor. Trust no one. Not the guy you've known thirty years and not the new guy you met at the last gun show. We're in East Germany now, with half the population spying on the other half. Or maybe it's the other way around. Whatever, QUIT TALKING!
Here is the thing, if it's NOT true now, it will be eventually. This is especially so if something happens to the food chain and we have mas shortages.
All of a sudden you will go from being responsible and prepared, to an evil hoarder.
This is one reason why I want a large sail boat. It's common to have a years worth of provisions on board for a voyage. if things get that bad here, I would just go on my voyage.
Frankly, I do not care whether it is or isn't true. If I want 5 rounds of ammunition in my home and 5 minutes worth of food, that is what I will purchase. If I want 5 million rounds of ammunition, and 500 years worth of food, that is what I'll purchase. I was done with the nanny state a couple years ago. Threw in the towel. I'm gonna do my own thing, and they can leave me alone or put me in jail; it is entirely up to them, I pose a threat to no body.
If it were true... a lot of folks here in Idaho and elsewhere would be in really deep doo doo...
stock, lock up and keep prepping for as long as you can...and don't let up. I personally think we are all going to need every shell and every morsel before this is all over with...
Limit on how much food you can store? For how many people and how much can they eat in a day? Pretty subjective if you ask me.
I'm throwing out the BS flag
