Default Truckers to make a convoy to DC

Advertise Here

Are there any truckers here? Is there any truth to this article? It says that truckers are going to make a convoy to DC between Oct 13-15 because they're ****ed.

I work as an Operations Manager for three different trucking companys and this is the first that I have heard of this. But I'll be passing it around to every truck driver that I know.

The website is pretty tinfoil. I mostly read it for the entertainment value, but sometimes they get a story right. The article said that it's going around Facebook, but I don't do FaceBook.

I won't do a lot unless thay start blocking fuel pumps and the on / off ramps on the interstate. But if thay do that it would bring this country to a screeching halt in about an hour.

They would be far more effective and create far more havoc if they simply stayed off the road for a day or two. That would get people's attention P.D.Q.

Well, thinking about the nature & potential effective statement of a "general strike" is real interesting. It wouldn't be that hard for most of us to stop participating for three days. But it would do a number on a lot of businesses... unless people made up for that before and after the strike.

I have worked as a dispatcher for one of the 3 major companies here in the US for the last 7 years. I have seen freight slow tremendously also the quality of professional drivers has decreased. For being a multibillion dollar company our systems are antiquated and our tracking equipment is worse. People worry about another 9/11 with planes. I have been saying for years it would be much easier with a truck, like an OKC bombing thing. A CDL is super easy to get, you don't have to speak good english, and in some cases I think none at all. Heck you don't even have to provide your own truck or trailer. Also you shutdown the top trucking companies for 2 or 3 days, there would be nationwide panic. I haven't heard about this from any of my drivers, but I will ask around.

I still have a few trucking friends, I called some of them about this and none of them have heard anything, not even my husband.

I hope the truckers really make this happen. And that it is reported properly. Maybe I'm just too far removed here in Europe, but it didn't seem to me that the biker's rally was given nearly the coverage it deserved.

im sure with the unemployment it wont be hard to find replacement drives quickly. those indy drivers would very quickly find their loads going to others. shipping is cut throat and they havent done this to drive the price of diesel down. what makes you think they will do it for any other reason? BTW i have friends that drive and are part of shipping managers and not one has heard of this.

As troubling as the thought of this event is, I'm not surprised that nobody in the industry has heard of it. That website is super-tinfoil and IMO is in the same league as infowars.

I'm not sure how the bikers pulled off the numbers they did. Official organization/DC police numbers (for foxkitten) are now 1.2 million riders. The tone of their facebook page is moving along quickly toward political statement of resistance to tyranny, these days. And they're telling people who don't see eye to eye with their viewpoint to take a hike, if they disagree or don't like it. I'll be interested to see how long Facebook lets them keep their page.

So, while Brew's original website might be a little notoriously tinfoil... it seems that a critical mass of people who want to "do something" and "send a strong message to DC" has been created. This probably won't be the last, either.

Remains to be seen whether the convoy will get the same kinds of numbers... and avoid "loose cannons" and "loose lips"... which might defeat their purpose. I hope they can "keep it clean" enough that I won't be that embarrassed to cheer them on...

Default Truckers General Strike

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013...days-straight/

October 11th-13th. Given the just in time inventory models in place at most places, even if a small percentage of truck drivers do this it could result in some major supply chain disruptions. Not that I disagree with what they are doing - for too long leftist agitators have had the civil disobedience space with favorable media coverage to themselves. When we are in a positon where nobody but half the Republicans in the house and a handful of senators care anything for what the American people think, perhaps it is time for action over words.

Something to keep in mind as you prep...

I'm getting the impression that this is being promoted and organized by people who aren't truckers. They just want to use them to make a political statement.
