Mine was missing much of the batten, over the years cattle would rub against it damaged much of it. Couldn't find the original profile so I got a router bit made and machined my own batten. Took about 1600 feet of it to get it back to original.

Nice to have it tight enough to keep birds and critters from making it their nesting area and home.

I agree with that. I am just going to use rough cut 1 x 2's to match the boards up there already. Need about 3500 feet of it.

Another before pic from what the place looked like when we bought it, and after we cut in a driveway and did some cleaning up. Pretty much the same angle. This is gonna be the view from our front porch, with the barn behind us.

Thanks. I am meeting with the electric company again next Tuesday to get a price on running the electric to the house. I had told them where we were going to build, but he wanted to see stakes in the ground showing it. I don't know why, but they are in charge when you want electric lol. Until we move out there and sell our house here, we won't be able to go with the solar/wind power.

Did you check to see if the old septic leach field was upstream of the well? Also, if the adjacent property owner is putting in his own well...may try and find out how deep his crew went. If yours is alot shallower then he would have water long after yours dries up...assuming they are within the same aquifer. May need to deep yours...

A few pictures as it is starting to green. I was so excited to get there yesterday. Also some pics from the back woods of the property and our little spring fed stream that starts on our property.

The other well found water at 28' and was drilled to 100 ft with 28 ft of casing. The water table is really high in our area. The old leach field that was there is about 300 yards, and down slope from where our well will be.

Talked to the electric company today. $4,000.00 to get a meter pole by the driveway. Haha on that one. Although, he did say, if we move in within 48 months, and make that our residence, they will refund the $4,000.00. Now we have have decided to just buy a used rv with a generator for the $4,000. Stay in it on the weekends while we build, and once we are ready to move in, they will install it all with no charge. I can drive it to the dump station when the tanks are full and have water, electric and such all in one shot. Just a class "c" rv. Not a big one.

Driving an RV top the dump station every few days (and paying to dump) will get old fast. You'll have to pack everything for travel, re-level the RV, etc...it's a process. Look into a cassette toilet instead. You can get extra cassettes to extend the time between dumps, and you can even dump into a toilet. Many truck campers, true off-road RVs and European RVs use cassette toilets.

Or if you have septic installed, you can create your own dump station. If you call it a "dump station" they might count it as a separate residence...check local ordnances. But if you call it a "clean-out" then it's not a separate residence, and you can dump the RV into your clean-out.

Good idea with the septic. The RV would only be used a couple of nights or so a month. Just on the weekends when we can get away from work and go out there to do some building.

Could you set up the RV in a location on the property and then about 30'+ down hill dig a hole as if it were for an out house and then just run the crapper hose into the hole. Them make a simple plywood lid for the hole opening. Used just on the weekends, a 6' deep by 20" hole will last quite awhile before having to dig a new one. No different than crapping from a seat above a hole compared to crapping from a seat 30+ away connected by a discharge hose. Just a thought.
