In my bug out bag .
I have a sling shot . When all the ammo is gone . All the loading supply's are gone. All the arrows are gone . Or if you just need to hunt or take some one out QUIETLY ! A sling shot will get the job done . |

I agree they are usefull, and have one in my bob also. Being able to shoot deadly projectiles, and still legal in most areas.
And although im sure it can be done, (broadhead arrow points cause pretty knarly wounds). Id still but be really carefull if I were to " take someone out " with one. If someone beaned me with projectile from a slingshot, and it didn't " take me out "........ Id probably become pretty ****ed off. Id probably take that slingshot and.............. well that slingshot might be the last thing they ever taste. |

I can destroy a coffee can at 20 yards with a 5/16 ball bearing or a rock .
Yes it would be a last resort for self defense . But it would work great for small game to not let any one hear ware you are . |

yep sure have but he didnt use a "sling shot" as we commonly think of them ,,he used a "sling" its a differant thing and way harder to learn to use than a wrist rocket,,,,well i guess its realy not harder to use but its a whole lot tougher to be good with one

not exactly ,,,the wristrocket fires marbles or steel balls about that weight or stones ,,,whatever your choice is ,,,usualy and im just guessing here at the most 1/4 ounce????
the sling that david used was made to throw weights around a ounce or so possable more,,,they have found the ammo in piles ,,these were clay balls that weigh over a ounce and were made in molds to be close to the same weight and shape the differance is something the size of a marble compared to something the size of a egg roughly the other variable is the length of the strings on the sling ,,,the longer they are the faster it sends the projectile down range so to sum it up its a heavier ammo moving faster=more damage on inpact |

rugerron67, I'm sure you get my basic message. I agree with you that it is a good item to have in your bag with your choice of ammo or readily available rocks. And that it can be a decent weapon used against "egg" heads or to hunt small game. I'll be adding one to my bag.

dont misunderstand what i was trying to get across i got a wrist rocket too ,,,have used them for years to hunt small game with ,,,i am also practicing with a sling,,,between the two given equal skill the sling is a better weapon for a man
i have been hit with a marble from a wrist rocket at less than 10 feet ,,,in the leg ,,,it hurt but didnt stop me a sling most likley would of i think the target area you could stop a person with a wrist rocket is small and you would need to be close for the projectile to have enough energy to do it,,,with arrows and broadheads you gain a bit of a advantage |

I am an amateur wood worker and I had a slab of dark walnut lying around. One night I just made a slingshot, used therabands. Love shooting it, always carry it. I have been trying to hit claybirds at my trap range, got close a couple of times.

Do any of you guys remember when you could buy sling shot darts for your wrist rockets? Now those would be deadly! I wonder if anyone makes them now.

Check out what Dave Canterbury does with a slingshot on YouTube - he sells an adapter kit or you can DIY to fire arrows with it to great effect - even has 2 or 3 piece take down arrows for easy storage in a backpack etc
Great penetration |
