Default trash/water pump, pump

After the heavy rain and basement flooding we had last fall in the NE I decided to attempt to configure a trash pump using the 6.5 hp engine from my pressure washer. I assume I could simply unbolt the high pressure pump assembly and find a trash pump head that would run from the existing shaft. Trouble is I CAN'T FIND THEM BEING SOLD!. Northern equip. has one but no brand info (kinda hinkey). I thought these things would be everywhere. What say you?

I would think just buying a pump with the motor already on it would be better. You are not going to want to take time to switch pumps if you get a sudden flood. If you have a generator you can just use a large submersable sump pump and you can also get 12 volt sump pumps for when the power is off.

I think I paid less than $300.00 for a 2" gas powered pump from Rural King Supply.

sounds like more work than an external pump and 2hp motor would cost to build. Sell the washer if you don't use it, fund this project. I hope that you don't need the volume of a typical trash pump to keep your basement dry. We use 300gpm to clear out out manholes. Solar panel and an aquarium or bilge pump.
