The car guy side of me wants to say build a stout small black with a Turbo 400 behind it to go fast with but at that low mileage my sensible side says clean it up, fix the leak and just wake it up with some minor stuff. Leave the major projects for when time and money allow. Just enjoy it as is for a long time.

Definitely a good deal!

Used to have a 1976 and and 1980 Cutlass Supreme. Dad had an 1983 four door Olds. All were easy to work on and maintain.

Definitely beef up the transmission. My 80 Cutlass transmission did not even break 80,000 before giving out and it only had a gut-less 260 V8.

Too bad GM doesn't still make cars like these.

I've always like that body style. I once had an 86 Monte Carlo (very similar) and I built a really strong 350 with headers, big cam, aluminum heads, Holley double pumper, the works. That car was a fricking awesome sleeper.

350 swap? why stop there. No replacement like displacement, 455 all the way, it will fit. Now finding one may be a challenge. Sadly all my BBO stuff is long gone years ago.

Great choice. A 350 Olds would be a waste of time and money. What transmission you going with and are you going to keep the fuel injection or using a carburetor?

Im going to keep the 200-4r with a good rebuild and going carbureted for now to keep it simple and get it in. I will probably go with a aftermarket efi down the road. Also have to beef up the rearend as the 7.5 wont last. Im looking at a 10 bolt out of a 64-67 A body (Chevelle) or a 8.8 out of a Mustang as the have similar 4 link setup but are a little stronger. I plan on keeping the original motor and storing it and the swap is pretty much a bolt in. I plan on a budget of 5k and im right at 2200 for the car, engine, wheels and parts I replaced so far.

No disrespect to you,...but screw that! Live free! If I had the opportunity, I'd go old school. Plus, anything that gets in the crawl of the govt is karma at it's best.

I picked up a 8.5 Grand National 3.42 posi rear for $500 (yes this is actually a steal) and my brother bought me a energy suspension bushing kit for Christmas. So far I have just under $2500 in it and the LS swap will run me another $1200 or less if I can find used parts. Plan on yanking the 307 Olds and preserving it and taking the 200R4 to a local but well known transmission builder to beef it up. Heres the rearend that Ive been offered $1500 for so far
