I just read about the NE Blackout of 10 years ago, and one thing caught my eye from a "first person account":
"I next tried to call my wife on the cellphone. No good circuits busy, I tried the NEXTEL point to point, spotty but I can hear her"
What exactly is this "Point to point" connection he's talking about? I tried to do a search on that here, but I guess the words are too common to give me any relevant results...and doing a Google search on "point to point communications" just gave me some general info.
Is this a service that's still available? How does it work if it doesn't go thru regular cell towers?
