Apparently:

Take $200 SKS

Change out stock with $50 black plastic tapco collapsible/folding

Add $40 hi cap mag

$500 SKS!

Kind of like this guy I saw who took a $150 mossberg 500, put black plastic tacticool furniture on it and a $40 barrel shroud and had a $500 price tag on it

But a cleaning kit is included. That's what bumps it up above 1K! LOL!

I find it interesting that people are so sticker shocked. I guess the reason is that that particular gun wasnt worth that much money. But I for one would pay a couple grand easy for a SKS, if it is the right kind of SKS.

Give me a NVA jungle arsenal rebuild with authentic papers and no import marks, I will give you a fistful of money.

man, I wouldn't pay a grand for an SKS that can be proven to have been owned by Kim Jong-il (or more probably his dad), and I'm certainly not paying that for one from Vietnam.

I might pay it for one made of solid gold just for the melt value.

Some people collect baseball cards, some people collect cars, some people collect girlfriends, some people collect other things.

I bought three chinese SKS's last summer for $160.00 each. These were new in the grease guns. They are starting to look like a pretty good investment for the long run.

Watched a bone stock WASR-10 AK sell for $1400 this morning.

Also watched AK mags sell for $52 (an increase of $15 over last weeks going rate)

Then I watched a bone stock Yugo SKS sell for $750

Yep, probably should wait around till congress acts huh?

Dont think theres a chance anything will pass? lol, I'll bet you said the same thing about executive action a month ago too right?

Sorry to be the one to say it, but the time for accumulating weapons has passed, if you aint got what you need, you better be able to do without... or you can Hope for Change.

My next planned purchases are a Glock 9MM and an SKS. Hopefully the current situation wont escalate and the prices will go down. Also I'll hopefully still be able to get 30 round Glock mags. Too bad I had to shell out $500.00 to get brakes fixed.

In 2005, at my LGS/Shooting Range, I was checking out crates of perfect condition, Yugo SKS's for $139.00 (including oil and cleaning kit).

Also crates of WASR AK's at $389.00 and M70 AB2 AK's at $429.99.

I picked up my Yugo SKS about 10 years ago. Don't remember how much I payed bit it was wrapped in paper and full of grease still. It's an all matching numbers gun. Shoots well and I will never sell it no matter how much the prices fluctuates. I also have a couple shotguns and an M4. I may even plan to purchase a hand gun or 4 when I can afford to.
