Class tomorrow night, should be interesting. I wonder where the conversation will go.

Visualization is more practical now than pressing. If nothing else I'm learning a little bit about how 1 thought leads to another and in 10 seconds I'm 100 miles from where I started. Clear the mind and start again.

I still can't see the actual target in my mind's eye so I need to literally talk myself into it.

Winter has finally showed up and the only footprints over the past few days were mine, the 2 deer walking through and the rabbit (??). I'm a city boy so forgive my lack of tracking skills (deer I know).

Since I continued to be late on my press I decided to add 2MOA of elevation and now my misses (anything outside the 9 ring) are on the high side. I think it'll be easier to bring my group in tighter from being just a little high rather than trying to catch up as I'm leaving the scoring rings.

May the Pox be upon those responsible for allowing evil people access. May those willing to relinquish their rights in the false belief that someone else will take care of them come to their senses. Unlikely but we can hope.

The best piece of advice i can give to a new handloader is be OBSERVANT. Keep an eye, ear, and sense of feel on each operation of reloading for consistency. This also applies to each shot of loaded ammo in case of a squib or hot load or anything like that.

Be as meticulous as possible, you will love the outcome. I load subsonics up in 308, and its very important to be as accurately consistent on every loading to prevent supersonic shots, squibs, or inaccurate assembled ammo.

Each case was chosen from my collection for being from the same headstamp. Each case is once fired (in the rifle its to be used in) full power ammo, and then is neck sized only and numbered 1-50 in my subsonic box., the weight and case capacity are within a given tolerance as well.
I DONT do this on all my ammo, but it has paid off on the subsonics using 11grs of trailboss and a 208amax bullet with cci large rifle primers. Flash hole is factory diameter for nato brass and is deburred/chamfered inside the case. Each case is once fired full power ammo, and then is neck sized only and 1-50 in my subsonic box.

This is kind of overkill, but just be consistent is what im recommending, it will pay off in the long run as your subconscious is programmed to perform these operations.

For my "poofter" loads, I'm running 12 grains of Unique behind a 190 grain gas-checked cast projectile.

Getting 1.5-2" groups at 100 yards.

Have to aim 6" high though.

Hey Grumpy!

Thanks for the info! I JUST got my gas check 180 grain die in the mail yesterday. Im going to start casting the 308 subs in 185 and 220 and 300blk in 220 grain subs. Ive got lyman #2 and lynotype to try out....as well as some 99.9% pure laboratory lead scrap i got from a buddy that demos hospitals and labs with xray stuff to alloy up.

With the unique are you using case filler? I always worried about a S.E.E, so i went with the trailboss for the fill and availability. Nobody but the cowboy action shooters are using it locally so its an available resource. The unique ive got is going into the other pistol cals and some shotgun loads.

No filler, 12 g's puts it just over half full and the WLR primers light it up real good.

Haven't got to chrono them yet, but I'm not getting that "crack" when they go downrange.

My 180 round-nosed were junk in both rifles, couldn't hit paper at 50 yards, but the 190 pointy ones are the bomb-diggity.

I also have some 155 gc's that seem to hold their own too.
