It may be awhile until I have it in my hands and can get it to a range, but I will have pictures and a report/comparison up when I do.

Bought one about 8 months ago, love it. Very well made, has heavy duty barrel and receiver. Modeled after the AK47, probably a better rifle which is saying alot. Comes in
various calibers and barrel lengths. I have the 7.62x54R in 23 inch barrel. Great shooter,
very accurate. Bought a Russian made scope for about $260.00, scope and mount are
one piece. Slides right on the side of the receiver and locks down. Came with 2 five
round mags, ten round mags come out since I bought mind, I bought 4 of those. Also, comes in a 308 caliber which you can get 20 round mags for that. Sweet gun.

I've been searching high and low for a VEPR. I've never bought a gun online, but that may have to change. I've got a ton of ×54r stocked and would love a semi in that caliber.

centerfire systems had them about a week or so ago. The 7.62 x54r flavor was listed at $1199.00 and .223 $799

I got one of the 20 inch ones off Centerfire a few weeks ago for 1200. It was too much but I sold an AR-15 and wanted something that was more of a DMR. The ammo is 20 cents a round and hits like a train. Its heavy and strong and will make a great survival rifle. I have a 4x psop scope on mine and plan to get it threaded for ar10 breaks.

The price jump makes me so glad I got mine when I did. $499.99 out the door. Almost traded it about a month ago but stuck with it, got some new glass to throw on it and happy as hell that I did.

I would really like one of these but am going to wait a few months and see if prices come down at all. I have a 91/30 and M44 so the 7.62x54 caliber would be ideal...

If the prices don't come down I guess I'll just have to "bite the bullet"

Recoil surprised me, nothing like the Mosin Nagant or the M44 Carbine which
of course are the same caliber, very mild. Was shooting the cheap stuff,
the Brown Bear/Silver Bear and the Tulammo. Shot about 50-60 rounds. You
could shoot this thing all day and not have a sore shoulder. On the other hand,
shot about 20 rounds with the Mosin and had a sore shoulder. Not sure why
the recoil on the Vepr is so much less. Hope this helps.

Some of the energy from the recoil is bled off to operate the semi-automatic action. All other things being equal, a semi-automatic will always have less recoil than a bolt action, pump action, or single-shot.

Am I glad I got mine before this gun craze came. The old Fleet Farm carried two where I was located. Shoots 2.5 - 3.5 in @ 100yrds on good days and will hit man size targets at 220yrds.
