Default Pro 2A/Pro Suppressor Groups in Minnesota?

Advertise Here

I was pleasantly surprised to see that legislation is working its way through the house to legalize the purchase of suppressors in Minnesota.

The fact that i was surprised however left me a bit dismayed... I am relatively new to the gun scene but clearly i am not doing my part as a gun owner to support pro 2A legislation.

I did some googling looking for pro suppressor groups in MN and didnt have much luck... i am hoping this is due more to weak google-fu than the lack of a group.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or turn me on to groups pushing to make sure our rights are expanded not removed?

Thanks in advance,

sQuid

It may get through the house(s) but I doubt Mr. Crazy Eye's Slurred Speech will sign it.

Default Supressor

Andrew Rothman is the guy you want to lookup. He runs carryforum.org and is one of the lead gun advocates in Minnesota. He is a very approachable good guy. Look him up. I'm not on Facebook much, but he was active there a lot back when I was on Facebook more.

Here is an article and video with Andrew testifying:

Finally, check out GOCRA. This is the Gun owners civil rights alliance. If there is some political issue involving guns in Minnesota, they are on the front lines.

GOCRA is the best gun rights group in MN. Andrew Rothman is the president. They work with the NRA, but if you can only support one make it GOCRA.

Another group that works with GOCRA is the Minnesota Gun Owners Political Action Committee: http://www.mngopac.org/ Being a PAC they can get involved in electing progun politicians, which GOCRA can't do.

Stay far away from Minnesota Gun Rights. They are run by a carpet bagger from Iowa and appear to be more about raising money than accomplishing anything.

Don't give up hope yet this year. The House has rolled several pro gun bills into an omnibus crime bill. The suppressor bill is supposed to be added too. This will get sent over to the senate for a vote.

I hope you are right. It would be so incredibly nice to be able to tone down the noise from my gun at times. My ears would appreciate it! Also, I think it is more kind to the neighbors, when you are shooting targets, to use suppressors. Never used one, but often wished I could.

Good call Jackpine!

I was pleasantly surprised to read that Minensota has joined the rest of the free world in legalizing private suppressor ownership as of a couple days ago. I will be headed to the LGS today to put in an order for a new accessory for my Ruger 22/45.

Way to go Minnesota, there is hope for us yet!

Speaking of that, anyone thinking of getting one? Not sure I can justify the cost right now, but it would be very nice to have one someday.

They need to reform federal laws to remove the $200 fee and months of waiting just to get your suppressor.

Agreed. I am probably going to at least get one for my 22s to help train the wife and kids.

I am currently looking into setting up a gun trust to purchase the suppressor under.

I'm looking at a couple, one for .22 and one that I can move between my rifles. Definitely setting up a trust.

It sucks paying the Feds and jumping through the hoops, but I hope if enough people do it and others get exposed to the benefits pressure will be put on the politicians to get them off the NFA.
