About as bad as you can get here.

Honolulu, Hawaii....
- dry and hot for the most part, humid but most areas are too dry to support much - volcanic soil is very fertile, but water is the issue
- good water locally but totally dependent upon govt to get it to us
- 90% of food is NOT locally grown...we are dependent on oil for shipping food in
- we are isolated, which could be good, could be very bad
- major, and I mean MAJOR, military target
- lots of soldiers ready to let loose if SHTF
- bad spot for a tsunami to hit
- we get hurricanes too, occasionally
- high cost of living, high cost of real estate, plenty of people struggling and living on the edge already

Some parts of the islands would be pretty good for survival, but definitely not the urban settings.

I don't think the biggest concern should be about nuclear attacks or terrorism for that matter...its a p$lice st$te. A "type of new world order we can all believe in"...as someone has said. Its happening. the american people have about 50 nooses around their necks, and the constitution is up in flames. So i'm thinking about my state of MN. I live in the middle somewhere about....pretty brutal winters...but tons of firewood. Good soil if your on highground...and more lakes than you can imagine...tons of deer and other wildlife...but also t wolves, cougars, coyotes on the rise....i think its decent. 20 miles of wilderness and swamps out the backdoor. i'm not trapped in a town or anything...A city though...they'l be the first to lock down. Get out!!

You just have to be able to get thru a few cold months of winter.
I'm seriously looking north of Concord in the white mountains.

I know that it sounds inhuman but sometimes I wish for a good plague and good luck. There is so much stuff built up now that was farmland 20 years ago. I'm sure the people older than me ,on this forum, see the population growth even more clearly than I do. I just wish that this could be laid over a state map and had a zoom feature.

Thanks,
Rob

Salem, Wisconsin

There are plenty of lakes, some areas to hunt, and population isnt a problem. However, Salem is located almost exactly halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee. This could be a real problem when trying to get to my BOL if people from the cities start leaving blocking the roads.

Ahhh. Northern New Jersey here.

Pros - Somewhat organized municipal/county/state emergency management plans due to proximity to NYC, several like minded individuals close to me, groundwater readily available.

Cons - Close to NYC, Current gun laws, Lack of open space, High taxes, High property costs, People, People in cars, People walking down the street, People walking dogs, People on the train, People in buses, Crazy people yelling at street signs, Panicky people, Picatinny arsenal (Small arms and robotics R&D), Ft. Dix, McGuire AFB, Lakehurst NAS, Ft. Monmouth (Communications R&D).

Southern NJ has much more open space and much less in the way of people but has four nuclear power plants, Camden, and is close to Philadelphia.

St.Louis
Big Earthquake will come and right behind #1 Detroit in crime.
Face it, just about everywhere you are screwed.
West Virginia looks nice though, lots of hills, game, privacy, but, you better not trespass.

Unhappy

Los Angeles, CA....

On several fault lines, major shipping ports, nuclear power plants, 13 million people, a population that tends to riot and loot, almost no natural water, no game to speak of, in a basin with few roads out, more gangs than I can count, poor ammo availability...

Do I need to go on?

Arnold Air Force Base is about 20 min. away from me.......Possible Target.
Redstone Arsenal is about 45 min south of me.......Obvious Target.

But I'm surrounded by lakes(I've got one right down the street from me).
According to friends who hunt--Their deer season has been amazing.

If I don't get bombed I guess this is a good place to live.

Austin, TX. Lib capital of TX. Central TX area command center, so first city to be on lock down. 1 hr from Ft. Hood, possible strike target. Poor road infastructure.
Good news is that I live 2 miles from work. I am on the east side of town so I can get out fairly quick. Bad news is wife works 10 miles from home. She runs, so she could get home in about 2-2.5 hours on foot if EMP happens.
Good soil, mild winter, long growing season, lots of farms and cattle around. Plenty of water if we are not in a drought.

Default Central Oklahoma

Cons:
Tinker AFB, home of AWACs , KC130s, and a few B-2 Spirits

Smack in the middle of tornado Alley.

Massive low-income urban sprawls across the entire east side and central part of the city packed full of zombies and gang bangers.

Located right on the I-35 drug/illegal immigrant corridor.

Ice storms can knock down trees and power lines easily, and make driving a contact sport.

Thousands and thousands of wound up citizens ready to deplete large stores of mil. surplus ammunition if things really go south.

Pros:
Thousands and thousands of wound up citizens ready to deplete large stores of mil. surplus ammunition if things really go south.

Tornadoes aren't that bad if the infrastructure stays up and running. Precise radar tracking and storm chasers running them down like foxes make them very predictable.

If you plant it, it will grow. Lots of cattle and pork ranchers as well.

Major highways and turnpikes head out in almost every direction.

Basically it's northern Texas, until football gets brought up.

Pros:
Mild weather and temperatures
Independent Coffee Shops
30 minutes and you can be out in the hills
Lots of game and fresh seafood.
Despite all the Cons this place is just too Damn Beautiful to leave and when I do I will be heading over to Eastern Washington where the Conservatives roam.
I hear ya - the liberals are thick here. Thankfully most are in the Puget Sound areas

Now for the Coast/Peninsula side

Cons - illegals, liberals (the coast and peninsula is Seattles playground), tweekers, well armed gangs (both street gangs and 1% biker clubs), tribal fisheries that have a net it til its gone philosophy, non tribal gillnetters with the same philosophy, high percentage of chronically unemployed or seasonal unemployed, high percentage of substance abusers. In a SHTF situation we're most likely to be overrun from the urban areas of Puget Sound.

Pros - still heavily forested contrary to what many claim, fish runs are still good on most rivers, high percentage of gun owners/preppers, healthy deer and elk populations, farmland, bridges that can be blocked to stop or slow the Seattle horde.

One Thing Only 1 Person Showed in Their CONS: PRISONS. What will become of these folks when TSHTF? I am guessing they will be left to their own devices. So think about that if there are any local, state or federal, or military prisons near you.

I am about 90 minutes west of Savannah, Ga. Savannah is the like #2 port on the east coast, has Hunter Army Airfield and 45 min +/- South in Hinesville, ga is the 3rd infantry Division (Mechanized) A BIG player in current wars. They fly out of Hunter AAF.

Savannah itself has a VERY high crime rate since the guy that was mator for 30 years got voted out for a dem. woman, then a 2 term (so far) black mayor who is inept as any mayor Atlanta has had in 20 years. Murder is thru the roof there, drugs, etc.

I've seen Savannah try to bug out during a hurricane. It was ugly. Glad i live just far enough away in the woods that most would pass me by.

The next town up is 7 miles, has 20K people in and around it. Alot of farm land, mild winters, long growing seasons, 2 rivers nearby, lots of deer, hogs, some squirrel, TONS of rabbits.

Cons are the 20K people, a prison on the far side of that town and a good many illegals to harvest the onions and such. Some early signs (graffitti of) of MS13.

I can't list pro's and con's because it's ALL con's here.

I live near Flint Michigan. I'm a transplant and I hate it. I'm stuck with the mortgage until things turn around or SHTF.

If/when the SHTF I would have to make my way out of here.

That is assuming it was not a nuclear attack as I doubt I would survive. Although this is a dying city, there is still a HUGE amount of manufacturing capacity here (General Motors) and it is a railroad and interstate intersection. I-75 (all the way to FL) and I-69 (Canada to the western Midwest) Might not be in the first wave but I'm sure it would come.

Also, my home is not "defendable" at all. It borders busy roads and an expressway and is close to a large population (less than 5 miles) currently living in poverty. Not to mention that people leaving metro Detroit (30 miles south) would quickly overrun the area. Violence is very high here as is. One of the very worst in the USA. If things went bad, I'd have to make my way back to my hometown (in the country) 75+ miles north FAST.
