I think the issue you're going to run into is range and the fact that a normal saw doesn't spin on it's own, only slowly idles. If you try it I know I'll watch though, this is just one of those train wreck sounding ideas you can't look away from.

Think the first issue with his idea as illustrated is going to be finding enough extension cords.

Just be sure the launch mechanism applies the motive force directly behind the weight of the head at launch. If you push from the far end, the initial launch guidance and flight path will be terrible.

Just my opinion.

No need, the saw is battery powered. 18 Volts. Battery pack is attached right behind the saw.

Well, don't forget that the pole is guided by a tightly fitting barrel. Until the pole leaves the muzzle, there can be no deviation. This worked really well for the Assegai thrower!
