I had a pair of those in 7th grade and they are making a comeback to kids today with the spy gear they are like 15 bucks at wal mart, my daughter wants a pair for Christmas I told her she has a hard enough time walking forward without focusing on behind her, they do work as intended and I thought I was cool back then, don't know what ever happened to them.

I thought bicyclists wear them when out on the roadways, dodging the normal traffic??

Growing eyes in the back of your head is a good suggestion for everyone. SA whatever you want to call it. Mirrored glasses are just another tech gadget that will steal it from you. Those of us who work "old school" know there is no app for intuition and the more you rely on sources outside yourself, IMO, the less safe you are.

I had a pair when I was a kid. They worked well. They are a little odd looking though.

Rear view mirrors on your glasses is kind of like using the weather channel to find out the same information you could more accurately receive by sticking your head out a window.
To be fair, if somebody wanted to randomly walk up behind you and shoot you, there's not a whole lot covert knowledge of their presence would do for you. Unless you're about to start turning and drawing down on everybody within four feet, in which case you might want to consider the Pope Mobile as an adequate form of transportation. ("You" in this case is not just the OP, but anyone considering funky ways to have eyes in the back of your head) |

Back in the day - - - I had clip on mirrors for when I went biking... one for my glasses, and one that attached to the helmet.
Both worked fine. Saved me from being run over a number of times, by distracted drivers. Though mirrors-in-sunglasses would be unobtrusive, their angle of rear view would be comprised. But wearing "outboard" mirrors might not be as a gauche if others thought you were wearing state of the art computer monitors. http://www.cycleaware.com/index.php?...=index&cPath=1 http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/mirrors.html FWIW - I found that the "cheap" wire brazed to square mirror with 2 alligator clips version was more sturdy and steady than the ball mount round mirror and refined styling. Keep it simple. |

There are no technical solutions to this problem that exceed the capability of your senses, a neck that moves, and your brain.
That being said, I'm still looking for the mirror I can attach the top of my shoe, and a room full of college cheerleaders. |

Or you know, turn your head.

I ride motorcycles & ALWAYS turn my head after checking my mirrors before a lane change. There are blind spots even on a motorcycle but, I'm still glad I have rear view mirrors on my street bikes.
Mirrors on your sun glasses are no replacement for alertness/S.A. but, they could help you get the jump on a scum bag sneaking up on you without realizing you're watching his every move. Remember the bathroom scene at the mall in the movie "True Lies"? I really like that movie cuz Arnold did everything EXACTLY the way I'd have done it in the same situation. |
