I know it can be done here in Florida very quickly depending upon the material. I would think a large lens and gun powder would work the best in northern climes. Both maximize combustion.
ya easy.. the question is if you have dry tinder or not since alot of stuff is wet it can be hard but if you have kindling you should be able to i did it with a pair of glass when i was a kid when the snow melted it made a pool of water and went out... the key is haveing something dry to light i used newspaper made it alot easyer..
I have never gotten a good fire out of dryer lint. I think it depends upon what kind of clothes you have and what kind of lint you produce. In my experience dryer lint is severely overrated as a good fire starter.
I use cotton balls with oil or kerosene you smash a bunch in a pill bottle and it keeps for ever burn even when damp and will give you a good 3 minutes of hot fire if your kindling is good you'll have a fire in no time even when damp. I have used drier lint it will work but I find this more convienent to prep I have these in several BOB and have no issues with storage I only look at my BOB once a year for water change and inventory...........
