looking to loose the phone part in cell phone

so im looking fr an alternative to a cell phone. im looking for some thing like a two way pager meets atablet with internet and color screen whats my optiins?

4g android tablet of some sort, perhaps utilizing a VoIP phone number assigned SMS enabled GUI chat application.

Why is loosing the cell phone part so important?

Pretty much any Android tablet should do it -- as long as you have a WiFi connection.

Beware the 4g/3g tablets, they come with a monthly 3g/4g access fee and usually VERY limited data usage.

and thats what screwes me i have no internet at home beyond whats on my phone now and im trying to move away from cell phone providers

You can probably get a DSL line without a home phone for home based internet. But if you have no cell and no landline how are you going to talk to people?

Are you trying to cut costs or what exactly is your goal?

Just get a used smartphone off eBay (without a carrier plan) or tablet that has wifi. Add a wifi router to your internet connection. Get Skype or some other VOIP program for your phone/tablet.

the problem is im 5 miles from a tower for my provoder and for the last 3 months i hsve hsd really crappy service and im tierd of these phones wearing out every 6 months
