Oh Ghirardelli is amazingly yummy, especially the Sweet Ground Chocolate and Cocoa! The Stater Bros. grocery store sells it here in Cali. I see that aintgottime posted their website and they have the same one I have, let me know if you have any troubles though, because maybe I can get you a can from the store here.

It's no secret at all!

I've been meaning to write a comprehensive post on wine-making, and I'd love to learn some of the things the other ladies here know; so I've started a thread called "Ladies Section "How To" thread". I hope you'll post more questions and your own wisdom there, too!

Woo-hoo!!! Dashed into the grocery while out today and discovered the Ghirardelli display. Did a little happy dance right there in the aisle. The display was away from the regular baking chocolate stuff, like Hershey's cocoa. It was small and almost empty so they only had the unsweetened variety, but I got me a can. [And put it *separate* from the Hershey's. It's to be used for acute chocolate withdrawal treatment *only.* Think that scene from "Jericho" where Alicia Coppola is sitting in a cornfield eating ??? chocolate from China that has dropped out of the sky from a plane on a pallet. ]

I havent read the whole thread but it occurs to me that this is something I really want to persue...have you tried this...putting chocolate in canning jars ...How DOES one preserve the CHOCOLATE? forget the bullets lol!
I use only raw cacao beans (the "real" stuff ) and grind them as I need it to make my own raw chocolates and in other recipes. I store it in mason jars and use a vacuum sealer (called pump n seal) http://pump-n-seal.com/ It requires NO electricity---just go ole shoulder muscle to pump it, so its good for off the grid and power outages.

It is "canning" without the heat and I use this sealer for flours, beans, dry goods, pretty much everything I have in the pantry goes into a mason jar. It is not to replace the traditional canning for sauces and cooked foods.

I have a jarful I am using as an experiment to see how long I can get it to last and I open it to inspect it every six months, then quickly close it back up and put it back on the stock shelf. So far, it has lasted for four years without going rancid.

The other jar I use, I had forgotten to vac seal it for a few months and when I went back to use it, they were still fresh.

If you haven't ever tried raw cacao, you've GOTTA try it-- you will never ever go back to commercialized processed chocolate again.

http://www.longevitywarehouse.com/Lo...owbeans8oz.htm There are tons of websites for raw cacao.

Well I have my piano from when I was a kid and guitar and flute. I sew. I know a little crochet. I should start stocking yarn. And I know how to cross stitch. We have board games. Then when it is time to garden we will be busy there.

I miss my piano. My parents wound up selling it when they retired to live up north (with my blessing, cause I live in a one-bedroom apartment and there is no space for a piano). I do have a keyboard now, but keyboards require electricity.

Shavers, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. I'd like to have a supply of my face cream stored, but it's too expensive.

I like smelling good after I take a bath or shower. There are several perfumes that I really love and it makes me just feel special to spray a little on me after bathing. My favs are: Tiffanys, Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan, Jeanne Nate' after bath splash, Haiku by Avon...these I would greatly miss. I think in a SHTF world that we women still need to feel like we are soft and pretty and cuddly even if there isn't a man around to appreciate it!
