The price quoted was from http://www.sportsmansguide.com/
I was just throwing it out as an example, but I would, as another poster says, treat ANY berdan primed ammo as corrosive.
Great plinking ammo, and cheap. My wife loves her sporterized Mosin

However, buy up the ammunition.

Back in the day, you could buy ak47 ammo for 150.00 per thousand. It doesn't last forever, that is for sure! I would also talk to guys on Casting Boolits about reloading. I think it might have issue.

Clean your rifle after every shooting. Keep that barrel clean.
Yeah, now it's like $180 CAD per 1120... wait, that's about the same... cheaper with inflation, actually.

The first time I fired one I could hit the 600M target center mass every time with Iron sites. I fired it (3) times just to make sure. I have an M38 and I bought a 91/30 for my teenage son, who also doesn’t have a hard time keeping it on target out to say, 350M. In my experience the limitation is not the rifle or even the ammo that limits the shot but the ability to judge the distance accurately. Scopes don't help you shoot but they do help you see, as long as it stays on zero. I am currently buying wolf 180gr SP brass case boxer primed ammo for 18.99 a box at my local gun store. So I’ve it sighted in on that. Practice with the cheap stuff and keep 100 rounds around of the good stuff for real world. IMHO a great time proven reliable choice for a main rifle.
If you go on EBay you'll find a safety piece with a ring welded on the back for around 20.00 also there's a man turning bolt handles with good reports for as little as 25.00 it you choose to put a scope on it. Spring for the Rock Solid it's a nice mount.

i own several of these fine rifles, these rifles were used by russian troopers in the extreme cold of russian winters. they used oil and grease from their vehicles to maintain them in good shooting order. you made a good purchase.

Big 5 sporting goods has Mosin's on sale through this weekend. After reading this thread, I may have to go pick one up.

Although I'm currently having a lot of fun with 10/22 I just got last week.
