Wow! I've never done ring dips. That would be cool. Like Jo mentioned, so many extra stabilizer muscles needed!

Oh yeah, they are a different beast altogether than bar dips. I did them pretty often for a time, but never could really hit high reps in them. I think I'm going to aim more for Ring Dip reps over Bar dip reps for a time, but use the bar variety for weighted dips.

The shock today was how much abdominals came into play. I don't remember that being much of a factor before.

I need to find a set of rings and make my own dip station! Ropes would work, wouldn't they?

I planned on a run, but the rain was heavy, and I was lazy.

Instead I kept it simple.

Bottom 1/3 pullup x20

Small Bulgy bag spins x10-15-15

Dips
cs x5
(13) x3
(52) x3 cs
(70) x3 cs
(90) x2
(142) x1
(162) x1
(182) x1
(162) x3 cs
(20) x10

Ring Dips x8-10

Hanging leg lift 3x5

bottom 1/3 pullups 3x15

I could feel my elbows were not into going heavy on the dips today, probably needed more warming up...I really think I need more warmups these days, I just get lazy.

In hind sight, having paid ~$60 I think for my set of rings (which is way more than you can find them now) I wish I had just made my own.

Rope would work, in fact prior to buying the rings I used rope, wood dowels and duct tape to stiffen it up and it worked. Making the rings themselves out of 3/4 ply and taping up should work without any issue, just take a good amount of shaping, once cut out.
Depending on weight maybe double up the 3/4 ply? But thats if your cheap, as they seem to range from $20 and up these days...but I don't know about the quality of the cheap ones.

I've planned on making another set or two (I hate taking the time to adjust the height) out of plywood and using small ratchet straps over rope, but anything would work.

Run today with 5 hill sprints, 20:43 total time, sprints and recovery are all improving...that last one was not as good as the first 4, but it was done.

Ha ha, those dips are not anything to get excited about...Yet. When they are I'll be the first to say.

Now, I took a day off as planned, then the following day I had shoulder and elbow pain, thats pain in my weak shoulder...so not a good thing. Elbows were also giving me trouble, and its all odd as the day I took off prior I felt fine.

So this morning I took it easy and did mostly just shoulder and elbow movements with girly 10 lb Dbs. I did everything I could think of movement wise, just trying to get the fluids moving within the joints.

Misc Shoulder movement
x15-20-20-20-10-10-52-10-10

Misc elbow movements
x5-10-20-30-10-20-52-10-10-10

I'll be taking a few steps back because of this and really trying to rehab the area, so going be some boring workouts coming up!

DB DL (75)
(I was too lazy to adjust them up, and just went with what was there)
x15-10-10-10-10

Ring invert row, (but only moving shoulder, just a few inches of travel)
1x25

Hopefully the shoulder will get back in the game fast this time, I'll think of something else to do in the meantime.
