Hi all, I'm a new member of survivalistboards, I live in Asia and I have really liked Hunting and Trapping when I was a child, In my country people have a great way to catch a beautiful bird that call White-Breasted Waterhen.
I really like learning more about the way to trap in the world. If you like it or know any trap like that, please tell me, thank you so much!
This is a video about it, hope you like that!

Yes, people usually eat them, or sell them, but I never do that, I kept it as a pet. It is pretty bird but the numbers of it are shrinking rapidly in recent years.

very interesting.

thanks for posting.

as kept as a pet, do you just keep one at a time, or more? I don't know what the life span of a quail is.

1 or 2 is so good, if you have a male and a female it can be a couple and can reproduce. Their life span like a chicken. Each birth they have about 4 to 8 eegs, I don't know exactly how long it will live but I have one and it live more then 5 year.

The problem with Asia... they eat them into extinction. They have a real issue over there right now because they've hunted/trapped damn near every animal until they are gone. They have a dozen animals now on the brink of extinction... just because the animals make a nice snack. If it's not over hunting animals, it's the habitat destruction from the over-population.

Yes of course. It is a kind of simple and traditional trap, so somtimes the bird escape before we get them but no proplem we catch bird for entertaiment purpose, so we don't need to catch all of them.

This is the way we make this trap, hope you like that! https://youtu.be/_xwY2G9EEu8

The white-breasted waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus) is a waterbird of the rail and crake family, Rallidae, that is widely distributed across Southeast Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. They are dark slaty birds with a clean white face, breast and belly. They are somewhat bolder than most other rails and are often seen stepping slowly with their tail cocked upright in open marshes or even drains near busy roads. They are largely crepuscular in activity and during the breeding season, just after the first rains, make loud and repetitive croaking calls.
