I have nothing to hide. With that in mind. Under protest and privacy I won't even use their search engine anymore. They seem to have sold out.

At least with a motto like do no evil google remains highly scrutinised. I have more of a problem with those thieving hipsters at facebook.

If you want an eye opener get the extension "Collusion" from Mozilla Firefox. You can see who is tracking you in real time. As I type this Google.com and Google-analytics.com is tracking me among others.

I closed all my google accts when it was revealed that they were working for Obama and making millions doing it.

Ghostery here. Does the same thing in a purple pop up that said right now about four different Google "services" are tracking me. So much for the Youtube channel. Ghostery blocks them, and Firefox does have a function under the settings pane to request sites to cease tracking you, but it is only a request.

As for their funding the incumbent, along with Microsoft, I will never purchase another one of their products again.

Google cannot be trusted. If you buy a Chromebook, you need to be at peace with the idea that everything you do and see with that machine will be known by Google. Recently, I got rid of my tablet. Right now my only computers are a desktop and a laptop running Linux, and I'm pretty happy with that.
