I've been trying to get an answer, from research, about what is the best food for the long haul. I've been reading about the freezedried stuff that's good for 25 years +. But everyone claims to have the best & the prices vary a lot. Does anyone know which site really has the good stuff?

To the OP:

Develop a "last minute list" - be ready to spend the time shopping and be methodical about it. Sale items, buy 2 and freeze/dehydrate what you can. Mostly the fresh produce side of things... but also any OTC drug items you might be low on.

IF we see a "mad dash" a la this month's run on ammo/firearms in food and other household products... it will be gone faster and prices will increase more than guns have.

This is what I'm planning to do - despite the fact that I've pretty much used up all my storage space, already. Don't forget the pets, either. (Kitty litter isn't going to go bad...) I would start now, buying extra of what will store well. Free up some cash (without going into debt) to be to rock & roll on that "last minute list". Gather first, then go about preserving what you won't use before it goes bad.

In another month or so - most of us can begin starting seeds, too. I should be able to plant in Mar/April... so I need to plan the prep work accordingly.
