I was wondering the other day if mylar wrapping could be use it is dirt cheep after Christmas, I was moving a dresser found some that I stuck there like 10 years ago and it look fine.
Why would you need a custom bag? They do come in several different sizes. Why would you take a chance of a leak with three different seams that you would have to make with a flat piece of mylar?
They're not even similar. The blankets are too thin and not designed to prevent O2 permeation. I don't even know if they'd heat seal. But they're so thin that they'd be too fragile for use even if they would.
But you can make custom sized bags from larger mylar bags. It's not hard at all. Stick with what's proven to work. So many of the "it seems like it should work" ideas, just don't.
Well, on the other hand, http://sorbentsystems.com - The online presence of IMPAK Corp. has giant bags with no zipper for custom applications
