Just wondering where people get there digital books from. Amazon kindle? Torrent downloads? Barns & Noble?

I want to fill up my bug out media player with some good survival reference and I was wondering what the best and cheapest way to do it is.

Amazon has imposed new rules on the "free book" bloggers starting today .... looks like they intend to do 99 cents to $2.99 specials ......

Was torrents. Now that that has become questionable by law, i am going back to paperback. There is something about paperback that just makes a book better. Nostalgia or just the cover, probably both.

Internet Archive is one good source. Used to use ScribD a lot, but they are getting pretty intrusive with their download policies.

Project Gutenberg, Google Play, Amazon.

Individual websites can also provide books, if you're looking for something specific and have at least an author's name, book title or any other unique identifier for search reference. For example, I was looking in Google Play for a book to learn more about building a cabin. One of the books that came up in the search was an updated copy of a 1955 USDA publication. A simple search on Google, using the title and year, took me directly to the scanned .pdf version of the original 1955 publication on the USDA website. It's sorely outdated (still recommends lead-based paint and asbestos shingles, for instance), but the fundamentals are still valid, and it was free.

Well I have always liked pirates. But here is a free book site that has some interesting stuff if you look around.
