Just like with any other piece of gear, you get what you pay for. Cheap chinese junk with poor quality control and R&D produces unreliable product. I go with makers who have been established and have earned a good reputation. SureFire, Fenix, 4Sevens, Zebralight, Jetbeam, HDS, and so on. Yeah they cost more, but I feel like you get more for your money. When I think of the situations where I would need a light (self defense, car trouble, being in the wilderness) I want to make sure that the light will work and it will be able to stand up to some abuse. A lot of the cheaper lights have poor materials and construction, exaggerated claims on battery life and output, and poor regulation.

When all your stored batteries and/or flashlights poop out, it's good to have some tactical candles around. Or some tactical furniture to burn.

Extremebeam M4 Scirrako. 1090 foot range, divable up to 60 feet, weapon mountable and recoil proof up to and including .50 bmg full auto, youtube it. They turn the light on and break cinderblocks over and over on it with not so much as a flicker. I love mine. Only $50 too..not to be a jerk, but try the search function. I've posted pretty much the same info several times in the last month. We at SB love to help, but alot of time the question asked has already been answered many times before.

I have a bunch of these.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-20...light/13848694 $25.00 150 Lumens 3 AAA batteries Hard "tactical" edge, easy to find batteries, bright white light, button is well made. IMO 150 lumens is the point of "Very Blinding" at night which is what I consider tactical. Anything less is weak |

The search feature here doesn't work well. I type survivalistboards into google then the topic I'm looking for. Works much better. Seriously, I LOVE the light and more have been requested for my birthday and Christmas. They make the best rcr123 regulated 3.0 volt batts I can find for my Beamshot light/laser. If you go with with 18650s (like two stacked cr123s), get Panasonic on Amazon. Rechargeables and a long term means of recharging are (currently working on that part) are essential for any light that takes cr123s (or any battery for that matter) and should be part of every prepper's kit imo. Some rechargeables are good for up to 1500 cycles these days! Just make sure that it's rated for the weapon's recoil you intend to put it on. Had a $80 "tactical" light from S.G. crap out after a few mags of 7.62x39. There were small pieces that fell out upon disassembling it and it wasn't even on while being fired! The last thing you want is a no name light failing you in a potentially life or death situation.

I also think they would make great "goodwill" items in case of power outages and all your unprepared neighbors are standing around in the dark. |
