I have been researching a comfortably sized CCW pistol and am just about settled on the Kahr CW45. There's something about it that just feels right in my hand. My Glock 22 is nice, but I want something a little easier to conceal. I have heard nothing but good things about the Kahr and wonder if anyone else has intel on this pistol that might change my mind.
I am wanting a CW45 badly, a CM45 too. Throw in an MK9 and K9 while you're at it...
We do have the CW9, and a CM9. Both have been perfect, and are easy to carry and way more accurate than you'd expect from small guns. The CW9 is my wife's carry gun, and I pocket carry the CM.
You're going to get some Kahr hate, but every manufacturer has someone who has a horror story. Personally I think they're well made, and ingenious little guns. Can't say enough good about them. I hope you have the same experience!
Here's a good deal right now on the Kahr CM45 ($299). I have the CW45 and now wish I had bought the CM45 (a bit better for CC). Either pistol is great.
I have one and like it. You're going to want to do more than see how it feels in your hand. Test fire it. A lot of people don't like how Kahr's trigger feels. It's a smooth pull without any feeling of break. It was a bit disconcerting at first but after a few hundred rounds I got a good feel for it. Like I said, I like it but many don't so try it before buying one.
I have a Kahr CW9 which has never work right. It has trigger rest issues which causes the gun not to fire at random intervals and is totally unreliable. There is also a hairline crack 3/16 of an inch long in the polymer frame right behind the slide stop.
I'm not at all impressed with my Kahr. And would never again buy anything made by Kahr.
I have a kahr p40 ... Love it
My boss has a p9 it had some feed issues he called they gave him 2new mags, that didn't solve the problem so he sent it to them a week later he had it back and no more problems.
I would say they have pretty good customer service
I have a pretty new CW45. It does require a break in period which I have not yet completed. When I got it new out of the box, it was nearly impossible to pull the slide back by hand. Now, I've put about 150 rounds through it and that has freed up the slide considerably. The rounds I've been putting through it have mostly been FMJ and those have worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the first mag of HP I put in caused the slide to jam tight with a live round partially chambered. That ended my shooting for the day. I'm going to complete the 200 round break in with FMJ before trying HP again, and will try a variety of HP in case it was the type I had that caused the problem.
My EDC is a Kahr CW9. The trigger takes some getting used to. It smooths out after a few hundred rounds. I changed the recoil spring and guide. Also there is a gap between the magazine and mag well. It will pinch like crazy after a while. I used a rubber O ring around each magazine to fill the gap. Makes the mag a bit difficult to seat without pressing very hard, but it is worth it. Have had positive results with my Kahr.
