So I have a Remington 870 Wingmaster. Sort of...It was a gift from a friend and the original barrel was pitted with rust. It has been removed and scrapped. However the rest of the gun is fine. It is oiled up, no rust in any of the other parts and just needs a new barrel. So for less then a $100 bucks, maybe a little more if I want to upgrade the stock and what not I have a new shotgun I hope. Is there anything anyone can think of that I should look out for. The gun does fire. I need to remove some rust where the barrel meets up with the gun.
New 870 Wingmasters retail for $800+ now. You can find them for less at gun shops, and much less used, as yours is. The gun was given to you, so for a couple hundred bucks for a new barrel, you're in business.
What is your goal with the shotgun? Are you looking for a fighting gun or a bird shooter? Is it a magnum receiver or a 2 3/4? I suspect the former, most Wingmasters are.....
new firing pin. hammer springs and trigger springs. mag spring and follower. you can pick up new barrels. i wouldnt put new stock on it if its clean. dont restore it. keep the petina. what model wingmaster is it? if its a classic trap its worth more then just your standard wingmaster. sell it to a trap shooter and buy a new shotty before you go destroy such a beautiful trap gun
