Original weapon designs

It seems like there's no new weapon designs out. Lets see some new ideas and designs.

Why reinvent the wheel? Weapon design has rooted out all the retarded stuff
because they discovered simplicity of design, coupled with ease of manufacture
gave us the weapons we still use to this day. A rock, a sharp pointy stick, a
method of propelling them with more force. A knife, a bow, rifle, sword, etc,
will still serve humanity well into the future. Look around at the garbage
that people tout here!! You can make a knife out of aerospace ceramics,
with a carbon fibre handle, and a monoatomic sheath, but it is just a
friggin knife... good design promotes simplicity and ease of use and repair.

Well yes I understand your view, however I was just looking for some unique weapons people came up with. No offense.

I think that man has pretty much covered the field. Unless some technology comes along that would allow us to kill each other in more creative ways, I can't think of any new "types" of weapons.

I mean, all weapons fall into certain categories and you would have to come up a new category before you could come up with a totally new weapon.

We already have projectile weapons, edged weapons (which could be projectile weapons too), fire/flame weapons, explosive weapons, chemical/biological weapons and, so forth. So, any "new" weapon must have a new category or, like stated above, you are merely re-inventing the wheel.

I would say the opposite. SCAR, ACR, XCR, RFB, KSG, TAVOR, Desert Tactical... I could go on for a few pages. I realize that many are variations of existing designs and are evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but many are also completely new. I am at work so I can't link but there are a ton of cool new things.

The thing is, they're all still just rifles/carbines and with systems that have been around since before, during and just after WW2 just made slightly more efficient, possibly more durable/reliable due to advances in materials but still the same principles and most of the mechanical designs and material patents originated in the 19th not the 20th century--bolt action, semi auto, full auto, magazines, detachable box magazines, belt fed, bipod or tripod mounted, plastics, aluminium etc.

They didn't reinvent the wheel just made it more aerodynamic, roll efficient, lighter/stronger, puncture resistant but it's still just a bloody wheel.

Well not many folks tote MASER cannons around. Not new but unique......... Never did try nor will I.

Do potatoe guns count? What if you froze the potatoe with CO2 and launched it. You could even partially cut it before hand so it forms french fries in some one if it ever hit em.

I test fired a experimental caseless bullpup many years ago, It was select fire and the bullet was encased in the propellent, The only thing ejected was the primer, I pretty much fell in love with it after the first mag.
