Folks,
any comments on these Carbines ? Found one locally that is in great condition but wanted to see if there's any opinions on this particular manufacture. Thanks in advance. |

Most Iver j that I have come across work well depends on the price, compared to an original. JT

seller is asking $550 which includes sling, 50 rounds of ammo and additional clips. It is in impeccable condition.

Does your Dad have Ivor J ?

he has 2, auto ordnance and iver j, they're both great quality for the most part, just inspect them, i am pretty sure they are both GI compatible not sure about this, feel free to correct me, so anything that is not in good condition can be replaced, i have seem him shoot out to 300 yards with them, it's a huge stretch for that cartridge but they are relatively accurate, i think the fit and finish on the iver j is good, some carbines stovepipe from time to time but most of the parts that can cause that can be replaced and are not too expensive. personally i love them, they are light and very handy..
as far as price i agree above, 475 seems like a good price, |

I bought one new.
It was extremely inaccurate. Sold it about a week later. |

yeah that may be true, forgot the older ones are a lot better, if it is a newer serial i wouldn't touch it, personally if you spend 100 dollars more you can get a usgi m1,

It might be a good one, I have 2, 1 is a mint 1944 postal meter got it 250 rnds ammo 4 mags and an ammo box wait for it- wait for it $125.00 the other one is a put together(blue sky) all military but no matching #s for $300 works great. This day and age if you offer a little less and don't like it you can resell it and get your money back. I love them their great little guns. JT

I've had 3 over the course of my life. All 3 had problems with the extrator.

475 is even too much for an iver johnson. i would not pay more than 350 bucks for one. but i would never buy one anyways. if you want a commercial copy get a plainsfield or auto ordnance. if you want to be really happy save up 600 bucks and get an inland usgi one off of gun broker.

Guys,
much obliged for the great feed back on the ivor Johnson.. I spoke with a gunsmith I met yesterday who has worked and a few recently. He reiterated Flinter's statement about issues with extraction with these rifles. He told me he's worked on 3 the past few months and all were extractor issues. Going to wait on a Springfield as you guys suggested. Thanks for the Consumer Advocacy Boys !! Hoplite59 |

I bought a Winchester at a gun show for $475. Someone handed sanded the stock down. I stained it back and linseed oiled the heck out of it. Worked like a champ. I also had a store of $2.00 15 round mags! Bought 250 rounds at the same show from an individual for $55.00
