Red Dawn style invasion? Slim to none. The logistics of it prevent any county that would want to try.

No, their best bet would be to cripple us, say with an EMP, and hope we Balkanize and fall into Civil war. That would keep us from intervening overseas, as we`re so fond of doing, for at least a few years.

But then there`s always the nuclear deterent. Altho the Iranians might be crazy enough to try.

The manpower that the modern-day "bad guys" like China and North Korea possess lies mostly in rural villages or factory-cities. To invade the US would mean putting their industry on hold; China's economy would be ruined, and I don't think North Korea could function at all if they even attempted such a thing. That's assuming they could even get here. Once they did, their lives would improve almost immediately by defecting, not invading.

The original Red Dawn came out at a time when the threat of Communist invasion still was somewhat plausible, or at least believable by a good portion of the American populace. The Soviet Union and its allies did possess the manpower and hardware, but even so, imagine the consequences of failure.

No, China does indeed have the man-power to spare. Every day they get thousands of rural folks entering the cities to look for work and modern conveniences. They have a growing serious problem of not having the work for these "imigrants" in the cities, this is where their man-power would come from.

There is no need for any foreign army to ever invade U.S. soil, they've successfully used our own economy to destroy us from within.

Well I think France thought about invading the US through Mexico once. We already let an army if millions come across that border already. But one country wont invade like in Red Dawn. If we fought back Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would probably call us racist and call for all guns to be taken out if our hands. California and the NYC would lead the way in capitulation.

The Chinese can't even get across to Taiwan right now. They do not have a Navy to support what it would need to land a force on the west coast.

I was a lowly enlisted man in the Army but please hear me out anyway:
I am guessing they would need 3-4 Divisions at least to gain a foothold. That is roughly around 42,000-56,000 men. On top of that they would need their equipment and resupply trains.logistical support, and they would need all of that all at once in order to be a realistic fighting force. I am not sure how many transport ships they would need to carry all of that. I am sure however many it is that they could not just sneak it all in and stage themselves unseen.

No way the Chinese could do anything even close to that. I think you need to readdress your thinking a little bit.

The only way I see an Invasion of America is after a Pre-Emptive EMP attack. And even then the chances of that would be slim as we would still have a functional Navy. Those Subs can be Devastating. Just my $0.02.

Virus attacks across the biggest city and in every state, when it breaks emp attack the country. Blame it on some other country, and move in to help (you found the cure!!). But doing something like that you would have to be so freaking insane that even hitler go "wtf" and it would probaly end in nukes flying around the world.

I guess the best thing would be to let it fall economical and then take over slowly by big corporation that owns votes in the congress, oooh wait...

I don't see that anybody really wants the US, what they want is to destroy us. Muslims want the entire world to follow Allah, Chinese want to rule us, but I don't think they want the physical country, or rather, they will achieve it by financial means. They don't need to physically take over. Russians might physically want to take over, but not thinking they could actually do it.

As I said, I personally believe the use of EMP is our biggest threat. Carried out by the Iranians. Would eliminate us as a threat, without actually having to have the soldiers to take over.
