Because it's oh-so-much different now than it was 10 years ago? Most people in those stores look like they're in some kind of stupor, but it's always been that way.

Now, TBH, what Wal-Mart looks like, depends on the area it is in, as I work a one in a rural area, and it looks VERY different than an urban setting (Supervisor) Putting that aside, I can say from the experience of my cashiers, that some were thinking the end of the world was coming, just before the hurricane, because ammunition was one of the things flying out the door.

Walmart and a cartoon equals doom? Did you even read the thread? No 2012 hasn't happened yet, it's currently in the process of happening, and whatever comes to pass in the next month and a half, it wasn't just the Mayans that predicted it.

And playing telephone with 26,000 years of history isn't very fun because way back when, conquerors burned their enemies libraries...(Alexandria, Antioch, etc.)

We don't have 26,000 years of history. Writing is probably less than 6000 years old. That would mean 4000 BC and I don't think there is any writing from Egypt, or China, or India, or the Fertile Crescent that goes back quite that far.
