You offered two really bad choices.
1) I would pay off all debts. 2) I would buy some good wilderness property and build a decent, substantial log home (nothing fancy). 3) I would start my dream business selling all things sharp (knives of all sorts including kitchen knives; hatchets; axes; machetes; etc.) as well as all things related to sharp tools (sharpeners; preservatives; sheaths; etc.). 4) I would add to my current stock of foods and other SHTF necessities. 5) I would invest in stable currency like gold, silver, and other precious metals. 6) I would stock up on ammo, ammo, and more ammo. 7) I'd buy something nice for my wife. 8) I'd save the rest for a rainy day. |

1.convert to a more stable currency ,if there is any ,and or buy silver .
2. Research the planet for a place to build a biosphere, a very complete environment, and professionals to work it . I already have some where in mind , and a design. 3. Offer to the best of my friends the oppurtunity to join me .Some are engineers and other professionals I have worked with in the past . 4. Build a surrounding community, with it's own econemy, it's own government . 5. Arm with defences, and trained teams, capable of protecting the community . 6. Create a zoological preserve to sustain species and strengthen their tollerance to desease . 7. Continiously create room for growth . 8. Provide a library and students and professionals, an area to learn in and work. I know it takes a lot more than one million to do this, but ,that kind of money can get the ball rolling . |

Call my pastor and warn him of the big tithe check he's about to get.
Pay off all debts (minimal) New house that's close enough to family, but on the edge of a national park. Upgrade the vehicles Bless my family members some If it's enough, email my resignation, effective immediately. Food, water, solar panels, a well, and a bunch silver Yep, some new guns...I like toys Jaunt around the world visiting some of our missionaries. It all depends on the winning amt. For a simple million, less traveling, and more preparing for the future. |

I'd definitely go with the chicks but I'd want more than 2. With a dozen or two I'd get enough eggs to sell a few.

My Wife and I are not in debt and I wouldn't be looking to go nuts or ultimately to go into debt because of the "win" of a million. The million is cash and the taxes are already paid...
I'd either buy an existing old house, at least built before the 1980s and, if so, in excellent shape, physically sound, etc. Or repair it. Or, have one built the way they are supposed to be built, not cheaply or incorrectly. No shortcuts and nonsense. Furnish it conservatively. Three bedroom rancher with a nice office for me. I'd like to replace what I lost due to hard times that I can no longer afford to replace. That would be nice. Pretty simple list. Bushmaster XM-whatever177, a shorty! A Benelli M-1 Super-90, a couple G17s and another Sig P-220. I'd buy a (legally, papered, etc.) Suppressed Ruger 10/22, 77/22 and MKII. Wouldn't get into any fully-automatic firearms. Suppressed, yes indeed, but nothing nutty. Good reliable Toyota pickup truck and another vehicle, nothing exotic. 200-400 acres in Northern Idaho, invest some of the rest, bank some, invest a little locally, basically retire and enjoy life. Finally. |

give 39% of it to the government, then eat a bullet.

I'd buy 40 to 80 acres, build a hardened home. Then put in large garden, raise chickens, turkeys, sheep and goats, maybe a few head of cattle.
Invest in some gold and if had enough left over, I would probably buy a franchised business. |

Well, I would spend it over the next 20 twenty years.
I would probably buy the 160 acres of Potlatch land next door, though not for the 325k they are asking. I would build a few more ponds and stock them with fish like the five ponds I already have. I would invest in a few tons of number one iron, a few tons of brass, a few tons of copper and a few tons of aluminum. I would finish fencing the rest of this forty acres and cross fence, okay well if I had a million I would actually hire someone else to do it. I would get a few cattle to run on the Potlatch land. I would buy a good tractor, and good implements, I am really tired of battling to keep my ancient stuff working. I would build a small log cabin in the forest at the back of our place. That would be about it, managed to accomplish just about everything else I have ever wanted or needed at this point in life. |

Invest $100,000 of it into something that will give the best return. Take the rest and spend it on gold, silver, guns, ammo, a couple G.O.O.D. vehicles, set up a good retreat location and the basic things that should go with it, like some stored food, water access, some security measures and such, pay off a few bills for me and some family members, donate a bit ($10,000 or so) to a good charity that I know will use it right, get a VIP membership to this forum, buy season tickets to the Saints games (for me and my dad) and some tickets to see some Gators games (for me) and Crimson Tide games (for my wife).
I didn't see that^ option on the poll choices... Last edited by JBryan314; 12-16-2012 at 09:35 AM.. Reason: Forgot to add a period. |
