Default Rioting in Stockton today

IMO, this was NOT police brutality. No license plate, ran from the car, gang-affiliated, and attacked the LEO with his own baton?! I can't believe these idiots are rioting over this, buy hey, that's just my .02.

Stockton is hemorrhoid on the butt of CA and it's getting ready to rupture.

Here's added video of the protesting

that's my sentiment too. Stockton is baaaad. Man, I hate driving through there when I'm on the I-5 - it's like Mad Max on that stretch sometimes. I always think about that line on 'Apocolypse Now'...'never get off the boat'

I'm not trying to start anything but i want to know if these LEO actions is OK. The last time i was in LE class the "baton" was a less the lethal QC weapon. And if you say this OK then don't get mad the next time your kid (not saying your kid) takes some other kids stick and that kids friend shoots your kid. (not saying your kid)

You raise a good point - I don't see it as 'starting anything'. Can't get mad when somebody makes you think.

Maybe me opinion is a little transparent in that the victim was a gang banger and I have no sympathy for those guys - but, you are correct in that lethal force might have been questionable when they had tasers available.

This situation reminds me of that old joke.

Yes, the LEO actions are okay, at least as far as the information presented supports.

Lessons Learned:
1. Have license plate on auto when driving auto;
2. If stopped by PoPo, do not run away;
3. If running away and caught, do not take baton away from PoPo and try to hit them with said baton.

The LEO are drilled not to perform head strikes or other potentially fatal strikes with the baton....batons are only "less-than-lethal" when they're used to strike "less-than-lethal" targets. Hit someone in the head with them and you could easily kill them or injure them severely.

Its a reasonably assumption that if a guy who runs away from the cops gets a hold of a cops baton during a struggle, they are not going to limit their strikes to "less-than-lethal" targets like the LEO (are trained to) do.

No riot that I can see. However, there are definitely protests.

Being an old guy, I was witness to the Civil Rights struggle. The leaders of that time and Martin Luther King in particular would be appalled at what has become of the Black community.

The best way to get through Stockton, California is to go around. Or at least make sure you have enough gas that you don't need to stop.

now if there was a white cop involved .....

Kinda' like "Assault Rifle" versus "Self-Loading, Semi-Automatic Sporting Rifle".

When i lived in Sac back in the day, 80-mid 90's, i avoided Stockton at al costs..When i did have to work there, I carried BHP, two extra mags and a Beretta .25 auto as back up to that....

Now it is going bankrupt.....Ought to build a wall around it, and let em fight it out....

I believe they are IF THE STORY IS ACCURATE. You have to obey the orders given from the police , they will shoot you if not. Where I grew up the police were also involved in the crime happening in the area. So , its not so cut and dry as it would be in Mayfield with opie.
